Default Called to update contact info

UAL ops called yesterday to confirm they have my contact info right. Double furloughee with DOH of 08/06/2000. Could mean nothing, but at least it was nice to know that someone somewhere in the Ivory Tower wants to make sure they know how to get ahold of me.

Anyone else get a call?

Willie,

I hope to hear from them soon (08/27/2000). Not ready to leave the GS cubicle yet. Been lurking here for several years. Congrats, you get my first post.

Yes. Got the call the other day. I'm not sure why they are doing it.

In the Chin's last email he said they are calling all furloughs to check contact info. Nothing more than that.

I spoke at length to the guy that called me. Also a double furloughee, 15 numbers ahead of me. I offered to send him cigarettes and a bottle of booze for Xmas. He turned me down.
The guys making the phone calls are working for UAL and they had some slow time. Someone further up the food chain gave them the project of calling all furloughees to verify current information.

For what it's worth, I give UAL kudos for doing that. Someone made a decision to make sure that we all can be contacted when a job offer at CAL rolls around.

The last thing they need is a contract settled that causes recalls and half the group cannot be contacted....I don't think that they are just bored.

A lot of us at the "top" of the list never were contacted just a FEDEX showed up one day at my old address. I was out of the country so I missed the first go around.

My guess is with the retirements (yes age 65 guys finally GOING AWAY.. will cause more recalls or if they raise it to 67, or 70...it WILL CAUSE FURLOUGHS....but I digress) the new rest rules, and possible JCBA more hiring is on the way.

UAL never bothered to check my contact information prior to recalling me after 5 years on furlough. This time around, I've only been on furlough for 2 1/2 years.

As I stated in my above post, I talked at length to the guy that called me. He said that he was a furloughee working at UAL and they had some slow time so they were directed to contact all furloughees and check to make sure that their information was up to date.
I give whomever at UAL kudos for being proactive on this matter.
As far as me getting a job offer at CAL, it looks like I'm going to miss the April cut by about 20 pilots. As of now, the plan is for CAL to shut down training for the summer and restart training in the fall. Of course this is a fluid situation and they could end up leaving CAL's training center open all summer, although I've been told that it's very unlikely - CAL's business model is very lean; they flush the training department during the summer and have every pilot out flying the line. Northwest had the exact same model. You can do that if you're a smaller company; it's much harder to do it as a large company. With the continuing retirement of 757s on the UAL side, I doubt that we see any recalls on the UAL side before 2014 in spite of 25 retirements/month.

Thanks

A contract could change everything...I am just a glass half full instead of empty type of person.
