Seems quite common from those who I have spoken to. Did a tour downtown Thursday and got a brief from a scheduler that said he started his shift with 6 open trips and no reserves.
He filled them all with junior manning and captains flying as FO. From what our class was told crew cancellations are very rare. Different culture from L UA.

"Different culture from L UA"

Now that's diplomacy. And that's pathetic.

Yep....it's sad that we can't stick together on this and make things better for everyone.

Since they call in reverse seniority order and they called me; they had already tried 85% of the pilots below me. I'd say that's pretty good. Too bad they fill the trips with management pilots, scabs, and the few idiots willing to make a couple extra dollars at everyone else's expense. The far majority of the "culture" here is fine, but it only takes a few to cover the trips.

How dare they cut side deals and undermine the pilot group as a whole. I am sure they will give some rational excuse for doing it.

Huh? Jr Manning side deals? CAL is always short-staffed and always will be (until we have contract language preventing it).

Most of them fall into the Saving Continental Airlines Brotherhood group.

However, there seems to be no end to people falling all over themselves to spend more time at work....even in the seat to their right.

I know IAH was a mess yesterday. Cancelled and delayed mainline flights.
