I have heard that Sep 10th is a deadline for L-UAL furloughed to accept new classes in CAL. Can anybody confirm if that is correct? Thanks...

It's only a deadline for those that previously bypassed the offer to request classes in specifically in Nov. or Dec. (12/wk starting every Tuesday.) If not enough pilots make the request UCH will hire off the street. Additional classes are anticipated to be scheduled starting in January and continuing through the spring and those same L-UAL pilots will still have first dibbs. FWIW, furloughed L-UAL pilots currently have ten year bypass rights so this process will presumably continue before, during, and after seniority list integration. In addition the TPA section that governs hiring is one of the sections that does not expire prior to a JCBA. |

Sort of correct.

In addition the TPA section that governs hiring is one of the sections that does not expire prior to a JCBA. I can only assume, it is a phone call or email, not an official recall by FedEx letter, since it is a job offer at a "different", for now airline, and once SSL and JCBA is in effect, it will be an official recall, once vacancies becomes system wide. Am I correct? Do L-UAL pilots, that take a job offer at L-CAL, get a "deal" in pay and benefits, such as: longevity pay, 2nd year pay, etc, or some other thing? Another question, what happens to L-UAL furlough pilots that work now in L-CAL, how will they be integrated into the SSL, or will they have an option to compare relative seniority between 2007 L-UAL or today's L-CAL? Looking at L-CAL most junior CA from 2005, and L-UAL from 1991, this might be interesting, when job career expectations comes to play. I know I'm asking a lot of questions; I was one of the 28 new hire in L-CAL in 2008, who's class was canceled, and ultimately we became nobody after a merger. However, there is a talk of preferential re-interviews and job offers as a "off the street" new hire if there is not enough interest from L-UAL pilots. Currently, I'm junior and fly for "relatively" good major airline; however, looking at the upcoming retirements schedules in both UAL and CAL, I have to consider all my options. Thank you all... |
