Short...

The ALPA rules are the integration can not change a pilot's position relative to others on his/her original seniority list. Which means you will never be senior to those who were senior to you at LUAL but passed up work at LCAL.

Now one could ask the question, "what if the ISL process took longer and my LCAL position would be greater after the arbitrated ISL than my LUAL position would be?" Strangers things could happen, but I doubt that will ever be a player in this ISL.

The longer this goes the more complicated the ISL will be.

No. I personally don't expect them to be stapled. But, considering they're currently on involuntary furlough(no recall offered) I would expect that they will have people hired at CAL after they were hired at UAL to end up senior to them. IOW, they're 99 hire date will likely not put them senior to 2004(05) hires at CAL.

But that's just my opinion. And that's worth nothing to most people. :D:D

Let's see, been furloughed for years, and at time of snap shot were UNEMPLOYED, now you want them to come back and hold captain. Sweet, sounds like a windfall!

Where did he say that? Sounds to me like he is advocating a compromise.

What would you like to see happen?

If there was no merger where would these involuntary furloughs be when recalled at United? What equipment would they hold? Captain? 777 FO?

2005 Continental hires can hold captain, can hold 777 FO line holder, hold any equipment out there. They are at about 72 percent on the relative seniority list. So an involuntary furloughed pilot will just slide right in? Bang you are now able to hold captain, and this is justified because you were hired in 1999??

I am sorry your career has not progressed as expected, but this doesn't seem fair.

And you should have an extra 1500 pilots below you on the merged list? Is that fair?

Read it again gentlemen (loose term). Two have said it.

A pilot/s cannot be re-ordered relative to one's own list during the procedure.

Actually, the bottom guy on the pre-merger L-CAL list should now have about 2000 guys below him, even before the SLI ... the 500 or so that have been hired by S-CAL since the merger, and the 1500 or so that we're not hired by L-CAL because L-CAL " right-sized" for the merger by not buying more 777s/767s pre-merger ... And since we are going to account for the not on property L-UAL pilots in the SLI, then we should account for these not on property pilots also.

Look, I have no dog in the fight. Mmmmmmkay? I'm DAL, and was pre merger NWA. My only real point for the UAL/CAL guys is that when it comes to arbitration, expect nothing but the unexpected.

Best thing you can do while this is going on is to stay off the web boards. You will go INSANE if you don't. :D

After reading SEDPA's illuminating comments above I have come to the realization that we are not worthy. We are not brain surgeons, but merely 4th graders dissecting a frog.
