If I understand correctly, L-Cal did not get enough takers for the classes in Nov. and Dec.. With that being said, does anyone know when the calls to the poolies will start? I know three people in the pool (on both sides) and no one has heard anything official. Thanks...

I was in IAH for Drug testing and fingerprinting Thursday. Most of what has been posted is accurate. I believe they said they sent out official letters to the poolies this week. About 30 to 40 from UAL and cal each. As of two days ago the plan is to have classes through May at 50/mo. Off the street until the pilots have a joint contract and there is an "official recall".
The remaining furlough guys (around 1100) will come back ahead of all poolies and off the street hires.

I don't think the "interview" will be anything, from what I hear, sounds like a pulse interview, kinda like 'jet for jobs' Do you have a pulse? Yes! You're hired. A real quick and painless deal. I am sure if you get the offer, and you can get there, you'll have no problem giving the two weeks notice. I hope they bring a lot of the poolies in. Like to get a few more numbers away from the bottom. Anyways, good luck to all the guys that want to leap over, as a "new hire" myself, I wish you all well.

With the staffing need and all the training requirements this bid is going to generate, especially for the 737, many can expect to see training in DFW and/or MIA. We just do not have the sim time to be able to accommodate the amount of training that will need to be accomplished. That's from a training check airman. AA will have sim time available for us to use.
I'm not sure how the company will allocate the off-site training. In the past some of the recurrent and upgrade training was done off-site, but they tried to accomplish new-hire training in-house at our facility. Could be similar this time. Bring the 737 recurrents to DFW for their two-day sims while keeping the school house primarily for the new bodies.

The bottom line was they are short, they are behind, and they are working as fast as they can to develop a process going forward for off the street guys. It was mentioned to us to tell any potential new hires to get in airlineapps.com because that is the only data collection point they currently have. Also, that it would not be helpful to have 5k emails or calls recommending someone.

In the morning they gave us a broad overview of "the latest" numbers and plan with regards to hiring. There are 3 guys (2 cal, 1 ual) working as a team to spool up the hiring and training program for the "New United" going forward. One of the gentlemen (Joe) gave us a basic rundown on current staffing levels and how it related to hiring. I am pretty sure he said something was sent out late last week. I assumed it was letters or an information packet to the "poolies". They have not interviewed off the street but are getting very close to doing so.
