Glad it was enjoyable for you, KC135. Our class got "interrupted" during the indoc end of course test (buffoonery) to be addressed by a standards captain who couldn't seem to grasp that we really didn't care about the upcoming changes to sections of the FOM and checklists. Then the wings were handed out like Pez along with first officer epaulets since the uniform vendor has decided to under-perform as they are being outsourced. Ironic, huh?

I just put my application in last week! I am so excited, and just hope I get a chance to interview with you all and possibly be a part of your team! Being from Chicago, United pilots and Continental pilots have always been so nice not just when commuting, but especially when my grandmother with the onset of dementia and I travel all the time to see her great granddaughter. Thanks to all of the UAL guys/gals for your professionalism and kindness!

Looking for some insight here. I have my application submitted on Airline Apps. I am a former Navy guy and currently a regional FO. About 3700 hours total, with about 1400 PIC (all in the Navy). Does the military time help me here, or is my time uncompetitive? Just wondering how soon I could expect to here anything from the company, if at all.

AMHESs,
Your Navy time helps a lot and your regional time, albeit first officer time also helps. What you need to do now is beat down the door of all your UAL/CAL friends for recommendations. I would expect that the first small group of invites will be family/interns/CAL/UAL poolies from five plus years ago along with some COMAIR pilots who were at the Atlanta job fair. 2013 should bring more hiring and more calls to guys like you who are qualified. |

You went to a regional after a military flying career? You are a better man than I! It must be really bad out there. That isn't very good to here as I'm approaching my military exit! |

It's all about the timing of your exit. Looking back 15 years this is not uncommon. |

I am curious when the invites to take the personality test will go out to those first selected for off the street interviews.
I do realize the first actual off the street interviewees will be highly connected internally but that is fine with me. I knocked on a lot of doors and worked very hard for mine-- hopefully it will pan out in this first wave! Good luck to all! |
