UAL Interns, etc
#51
United never had the TPIC requirement (not sure about CAL). That's how many of the interns and other low time folks got hired. (Notice that I did not say that ALL interns were low time).
They still look at the most qualified people first (unless you fit into a special category).

See below: no PIC required, but what will be competitive?

Curious if management's friends, interns, etc are next in February? Not saying this is a bad thing, because it 100% is not a bad thing. It's just the way it goes.
Most likely they have a list of preferences; management family members, then management preferred hires and interns, then employee recs, then everyone else. Just an example of course, but they undoubtably have a ranking order decided of people to interview.
Good to see things moving!

Actually I liked talking to guys that flew for many airlines. They usually had lots of good stories and were far from arrogant. As a matter of fact I can't think of a single person that fits this profile that was arrogant at all. Almost without exception experience breeds humbleness.
Arrogance usually comes from ignorance.
Hire the experienced pilots first. There are way too many out there to even consider hiring a 300 hour boy wonder.

I like talking to these guys as well. I'm just saying that arrogance comes from all backgrounds and yes, some have flown at many other carriers before. Not all by any means.

I was the first intern in Chicago for flight ops post merger. No official hiring program but it doesn't hurt to hold the connections.. Best experience of my life hands down. Amazing experiences, training, connections, and really just all around everything. Contact me if you need more information.
