Default Additional L-UAL pilot recalls

Yesterday, we sent 20 additional recall offers to furloughed L-UAL pilots, bringing the total number of recall
offers to 108, all of whom have been offered a March 11, 2013 class date
. The most junior pilot to receive a
recall offer has a Nov. 30, 1998, date of hire.

Pilot responses to recall offers
Under the UPA, pilots offered recall have 14 days to respond to the company. At this time, we have
received 52 responses to the first 88 offers. Of these, 33 pilots have accepted recall. The responses to
the 20 additional offers are due Feb. 23, 2013.

Question for you: What happens after SLI when they try to recall the rest of the furloughs, and they (the furloughees) turn it down?? Is there an allowance of off the street hiring then too? Thanks!

Does anyone know if any of the sUAL pilots that took the CAL job offer are coming back to the sUAL side?

Yup. Nothing really changes with recall rights, hiring, and SLI as furloughed pilots have 10 years from date of furlough to bypass so the "senior" furloughees have until 2019. The SLI does not have any effect on recall rights, the ability to bypass, or contractual language. If not enough pilots accept recall for a given class then UAL will have to hire off the street if UAL wants to fill the class.

The one thing that will presumably change with SLI is the ability of furloughed UAL pilots to quit sCAL and return to sUAL.

Which is why....

Yes. I personally know a couple that are but I don't know the total.

For others: note that the furlougees recalled so far were voluntary furloughs and many can hold the left seat (or wide body FO) at sUAL.

Really? 650 furloughs have accepted jobs at LCAL and I thought the total voluntary furloughs were less than 200.

In the first CO class Oct 2011, 9 pilots are still flying for CO and 7 of those have accepted the recall.

Soon after SLI, maybe even at the effective time/date of SLI, there will no longer be s-UAL or s-CAL ... there we will be UCH United, and every pilot will possess their "rightful" spot on the combined seniority list, giving them the privalege to bid and hold whatever vacant base & equipment their seniority allows. Not sure what you meant by "ability to return...to sUAL"

This brings up an interesting point - I noticed on another post that LCAL guys with 2005 and 2006 hires dates were awarded CAPT slots while LUAL still has many guys with earlier hire dates furloughed.

Will the above mentioned awards benefit the LCAL guys in the SLI process or did you guys take a seniority "snapshot" at the merger date to use in the SLI process?

I think at DAL we took a snapshot so that all manning changes after the merger did not affect the SLI.
