Alrighty then.

It's one thing to believe the theoretical existence of other intelligent life in the universe. It's quite another to take evasisve manuvers around clouds and brief it pre departure so as not to hit those theoretical life forms while they are invisibly parked over Colorado. You "might" even get your LCA authority pulled over that little stunt like that.

Aren't you the guy who is always hollering conspiracy theory. I have new understanding of the why Larry doth protest so loudly now....

Larryiah;
I didn't realize this was the "Roswell" thread. I will keep that in mind when I read the rest of what you post.

I think JP is to blame for lots of things. Unfortunately, the worst will be the long term bad feelings that will be held by the CAL side, post-ISL.

Because of the 3 year delay in the JCBA, the l-Cal side has had a huge advantage, and has bid on all of UCH flying, while the l-UAL side has not. Had the JCBA been done in a timely manner, none of this would have happened. I think the l-Cal side will feel slighted because they had inflated career expectations because of this. JP may have given them a short term advantage, but I think his legacy will be long term bad karma for the combined group.

IMHO

At what time do you believe the flying belonged to you that the CAL side was doing? Just curious? At the time of the "merger?" didn't UCH operate two airlines? How long do you consider timely? Sorry probe there was long time bad karma between the two companies waaaay before any merger was being announced...

How was the three year delay in the Contract cal mec fault?? You seriously think Smisek wanted to hand over a contract any earlier??? He had the Ual side on bankruptcy pay and the cal side with no work rules. Plus the two companies didn't need a single SLI until all the operations were combined. Had Delta not signed their deal we would probably still be negotiating. There was very little incentive up until recently for the company to need a single list, and a lot of incentive to save cash......

How much movement have the ual pilots had in the last three years? I thought that you guys were running upgrade classes and there had been positive movement.

Almost none. Basically rearranging the bases. Closing ORD 400, increasing SFO 400, etc. TK is a ghost town (hopefully that changes soon!) There have been classes, but almost all of those have just been realigning to shift flying east (on the 320 and 756 at least)...

I brought this point up already in another post- but will reiterate it here.
There are Furloughed (2x, not yet recalled to the LUAL Side either) LUAL Pilots who accepted positions on the LCAL Side (Per the TPA).

If the LUAL Proposal were implemented, they would be senior to themselves (!) and more importantly, immediately move up on their respective BES and therefore push current LCAL Pilots backwards overnight.

Also.. how is it going to work regarding the LUAL Voluntary Furlough Pilots?
It is my understanding that they have recall rights into the position they left from, ie "Jumbo" Capt (etc...)
I also believe that there is such a pilot flying as an FO in Guam on the 73 (took the LCAL Rehire position per the TPA).
Obviously, that pilot should slide into the SLI wherever he would have been on his original LUAL List. (I don't see the Vol Furlough the same way as InVol Furlough).
BUT
Now all of a sudden, will that "junior" current 737 Guam FO be able to put in a bid for 737 Guam Capt?!

Again, there are many little weird situations with the SLI due to the fact that one side had many furloughs, another had a few.. one side was getting new aircraft, another side wasn't.. And then you started allowing one side to hire from the other sides Furlough List.

Guess we'll know in 2 months~

Motch
Hi Motch,

It appears the vol recalls have been discussed. As far as the SLI moving a pilot from 50% down to 80% and affecting his/her earnings and QOL.... If that were to happen, in my mind that pilot should be incredibly happy that he/she had the last 3 years of "super seniority". If the list had been implemented immediately in 2010, that pilot would never have been up in the 50% range, so they've had a windfall of sorts. Of course, NONE of this may happen; all depends on how the list comes out. There are most likely going to be many LCAL pilots that are holding seats that they would never have been able to hold if the list had been instantly merged in 2010 at merger consummation. THIS is why the LUAL pilots were getting frustrated by the LCAL MEC perceived foot dragging. With each passing day, more LCAL pilots were occupying seats that the 2010 merger date didn't support. These pilots will not be bumped out of those seats, so if they end up going to the bottom of their seat list for a few years while their seniority catches up to them, well.... I think they should feel lucky to be honest
