Never flew more then my line value and tried to drop as much as possible. Most importantly months where I was awarded a line under 80 hours, as always I never picked up open time or JM to hit some magical line value in the upper 80's. Thus I fail to have empathy for anyone moaning about their lost 89 hour line value while UAL people are furloughed. I guess you do cause after all the union says its okay.

You are not answering the question by telling me your bidding and scheduling prowess. How would you force everyone to fly 75 hours?

Where did I say ALPA or whoever should enforce a 75 hour cap? It would be nice, but given the injunction that was slapped down ALPA certainly lacks the heart for that. As an individual my point is simple; anybody lecturing me from a WB left seat about their superior integrity while he/she credited 89/month with people furloughed is quite simply a hypocrite.
Regrettably, there is nothing we can do bidding wise to bring back furloughees unless you lower the cap. On the other side regarding the JRM coin, I completely agree with you. Back to those 19 hrs... |

Okay, let's try this another way. You bid and are awarded a 70 hour line. Great! You just showed the company and are protecting lual furloughees. Right? What happens to the other 19 hours you could have flown but didn't?

Precisely. With PBS (which we've had since bankruptcy), the build window went to 65-95 for the 320 and 65-89 for everybody else. Even if every single pilot chooses 65 hours in PBS, at some point the company will force (I think CAL guys call it a splat) flying to max hours minus the buffer (30 min, I think). So at roughly half way down the list or even higher if all of the more senior pilots chose min time, the credit time goes to max hours involuntarily. This isn't like bidding hard lines where guys are necessarily adding flying to their schedule. It is quite the opposite with the forced flying being involuntarily assigned with no drops or trades available to reduce the schedule. I lived two summers as a junior guppy Cap in that realm. Total nightmare...

Your blaming me for Eastern Airlines too?? That's a good one. How about Obamacare is that CALs fault? Our work rules were degraded as the result of a concessionary contract, much as your pay and scope was given up. Stop blaming us for all your problems I do the same as you, show up, fly, follow the contract and vote, the rest is out of my hands. I've been a member in good standing w Alpa for close to 20 years, don't hang your bad luck on me.
As far as a concessionary contract, thank your MEC for allowing the company to divide the forces, with such quotes as " I will hold up this contract forever if I have too"..... Lost workrules!!!! LOL! You didnt have any too lose! They were called the FARs. Bad luck.......I have a few choice words for you on that one... |
PBS would build you an 89 hour line REGARDLESS of your choices. Before you comment, know the rules.
