UAL Pool-ies
#1881
"Based on revised training plans and forecasts from Manpower Planning, we currently expect a need for almost 1,300 new hire/leave return/furlough recall pilots through April 2016. This is being driven by age-65 retirements, as well as aircraft block hour increases on several of our fleet types. This revised and very robust training plan will deplete our new hire pool by the end of September, so we will resume new hire interviews next week and will continue interviews indefinitely. As always, positions remain available to recalled pilots who return from bypass status and pilots returning from leaves of absence before they are made available to new hires." -- SVP, FO (8/15/14)

Of course, UAL is doing great right now. I was simply referring to the hardship they have faced a decade ago. My current airline might as well be a sub with an open door

We could exceed that this year.
No matter how much money we make there will be people that complain. United has survived while many carriers that were around as little as 10 years ago have ceased to exist.
We aren't going anywhere.
