Default 76T NYC FO Reserve

Hey guys, just wondering what a typical reserve month is like these days for 76T FOs in New York. How much are you flying? Mostly JFK stuff? Just curious, thanks.

Is there any chance a new hire placed in the 76T today could hold on and stay in the 756 after all the scheduled parking has taken place if EWR is the desired base?

I don't have an absolute answer backed by facts, but based on personal experience and my understanding of the fleet retirement schedule. I would say it would be very, very easy to hold on to 76T until the fleets are merged and then stay on 756 in EWR. If you were in DEN or ORD it would be a different story, but being in JFK I think you can expect there to be openings from now until we stop hiring.

Like I said just one guys opinion.

Depends on the season, and the shift in flying. The last couple months reserves in JFK have been all over the place in terms of hours and schedules. Given that most of the flying is EWR International I would say you won't see much of JFK especially since the domestic flying tends to go very senior.

AND 50 EWR 737 CAP slots!! So my guess is there will be MANY unfilled 76T EWR slots which will fall to new hires.

May. I would bet that some of those would be filled by trickle down bids, and the remainder by new hires.

To any CO guys here. Trickle downs are a new concept. It means that if there are a large number of people bidding out of a fleet/seat/domicile, they may award some unadvertised vacancies. So, what this means, for example, is if there are a bunch of SFO 777 Captain bids, many likely candidates would be current SFO 76T captains. Currently there are no current open bids for that position, SFO 76T Capt. If too many bid out, there could be some of those openings filled.

Bottom line, if there is a bid you want, but not advertised, go ahead and put it on the bid page, it won't hurt your bid. You never know what the trickle downs may be--with the caveat, only really bid what you want, you can get stuck with something you don't.
