Close. Have you ever seen a "hat" thread?
Shack!
The only problem with the new uniform is that it took so long for management to decide what it should look like. Just think of the hundreds of man hours wasted on choosing between blue and black, silver and good, thin or thick stripes. I would bet well over one million was spent on "designing" this uniform. That money and effort would have been better spent on planning for far117 implementation or Ccs. Any uniform could have been designed over lunch with a couple drinks.
The uniform works. It's not the best and it's not the worst. It suits the purpose of telling the passengers who is controlling the plane. In my opinion, neither the l-cal nor l-ual uniforms garnered any respect on their own accord. Rather the pilot wearing the uniform gained or lost the respect of their crew and passengers based upon their own actions.

I haven't read every response in this thread, so forgive me if this has already been said. I, as a 20 year and pin wearing ALPA member and l-UAL pilot, am wearing my old wings for several reasons. First and foremost as a protest to the complete ditching of all UAL history that the old wings represented. For the unaware, the four stars on the old wings represented the four airlines that joined in the '30's to become United Airlines and the rest of the old wings is essentially unchanged from that time period as well. The "hairnet" on our new wings is from a marketing company in the 1990's. Which has more panache? Secondly, The new wings are ugly. Thirdly, I figure if I see people wearing Navy wings, I can wear these and frankly, nobody ever notices anyway. Lastly, and here's the politically incorrect part of this comment, I was hired at UAL when it was the place to be. I know as well as anybody that UAL had many problems and bankruptcy didn't treat us well etc, etc, etc, etc. The fact remains that in the years before and after I was hired, it's a rare bird that went to CAL who wouldn't have preferred to go to UAL. I wear my wings because now a lot of those guys are senior to me, and I'm proud of my history with my first choice. Flame away boys.

Yes, UPS was a better choice than CAL back then (which was, by all accounts god awful) and would have been a better choice than any passenger carrier for that matter. That's the 20/20 hindsight part. I was just relating what I saw. Hope (Staller, Carols [sic] Danger, or whatever past and future names you choose) for your long term sanity, I really hope you find a hobby other than taking internet shots at all things related to the former Continental Airlines and its employees. Get out, mingle and you'll find we really are pretty much all alike, we just wound up at different carriers. Then again, there are outliers...
