Why are L-UAL guys wearing their old wings

How was it an insult? The tacky gold chrome stuff doesn't look nearly as classy as the old United stuff. There is no reason to be offended by that. The thin stripes were classy and unique, but argueably not as "airline piloty" as the bigger stripes which is why that changed obviously. But the old UAL wings were vastly superior. That doesn't mean LUAL was a superior airline or pilot group. Hopefully your identity isn't that wrapped up in any of this. Plus I also said the CAL livery was better than the UAL one anyway.
Thing is, none of that matters. A professional shows up and wears what his/her company requires. We want to be paid and treated like doctors but I doubt there are a bunch of doctor's forums out there *****ing about what color scrubs they have to wear. I made almost $200,000 last year (without our extra pay) to work less than 100 days. I'll wear a clown suit if I can keep this QOL.

It's all opinion. I think the old United hardware was nice looking but didn't hate the CAL stuff. I hated the embroidered wings and never wore them myself. I thought the thin stripes looked silly and I liked the CAL paint job.

... which are so hideous a UPS buddy of mine loathed the thought of being seen by any of his buds from other airlines in it.
And I couldn't tell the difference between the two which meant their "uniqueness" was not quite what it was touted to be.
Look, I actually grew to kind of like the new old (thin stripes, USAF blue) United uniform. I think the Delta uniform is the best in the industry, but a couple of decades occasionally a wearing double breasted suit gives me an insight into what a PITA it would be to wear it every day. Still, the design of our present uniform and brass, despite being bland, is perfectly acceptable (the quality is another issue). If you're a slob, you're going to look bad in it. If you take pride in your appearance, you'll look like a professional. Most of the griping over the uniform design is actually complaint about change (aside from the mess that is the hat brass).
...and Buffet's airline, NetJets uniforms are a copy of the old United uniform.
New United uniforms are no class even with everybody wearing them correctly.

Really don't see where a black coat with gold stripes is unique. I do see where management over at Netjets sees the value of their pilots looking like the professionals they hired to represent the company. They apparently choose the old United look over your black coat and gold stripes to replicate what United did to promote professionalism.
The old United uniform was designed and accepted as professional and to critique it for not being unique after it was copied in design by two very profitable, professional airlines is kinda questionable when you talk about people not accepting change.
Just confirms that best practice means "THE CHEAPEST" at the new United.
