For the record I voted no as well but I also voted for McCain and Romney. And today it means nothing.

With all the self-serving no voters showing their colors, would anyone care to pen an opinion as to why 67% of the combined pilots(CAL,UAL) voted to pass the CBA?

Sure. Because the LUAL pilots realized that time was the enemy. The way the contract negotiations were going, the uncertainty about whether the TPA clause would expire with regards to the new 737-900 deliveries vs. the LUAL 757 parkings, and the blatant attempts by JP of attempting to affect the SLI via Sect 6, all conspired to make most of us realize that we were negotiating against TWO parties instead of 1. Frankly, I am surprised we did as well as we did given those circumstances. While the Widebody Captains probably don't see it that way (the scrum was going on below them in the seniority ranks), the majority of LUAL pilots were keenly aware of what was at stake with LUAL shrinking and LCAL growing.

Thank GOD that's all behind us, the SLI is done (despite what the recent LCAL 6 think they are going to achieve in their lawsuit), and we can start to work TOGETHER towards improvements that benefit us ALL.

Very true words. I do not in anyway blame anyone for how they voted, its a personal choice. I can see why UAL voters might be more inclined to feel the pressure to get a contract in place given the circumstances. I have no doubt that United would have continued to shrink one side and grow the other regardless of how it affected moral.

Agree. It was far more expensive to return furloughees on 8th year pay with a more expensive overall contract to the UAL side that to hire new hires on the CAL side on 1st year pay with a cheaper overall contract.

I'd have grown the CAL side like crazy and shrunk the UAL side if I were in management, which is essentially what they did.
