100 in 120 Consolidation
#12
Just flew with someone who was not consolidated and was getting close to not having 3 landings in 90 days. The trip felt like a training event. But the company is going to play it that way and the FAA is ok with it. Seems like a lousy way to get a new hire integrated into the operation.

Yes it is. You will turn in your form with all your trips and times, then the X next to your name in CCS will be removed.

He did quite well considered he got trained on the plane before Christmas and then didn't have a landing for 60 days. But since all new hires are captains with years and 1000s of hours of experience, the flying is rarely the issue. It's ground ops, callouts, and procedural stuff that gets rusty when not practiced a lot immediately after initial training.

I agree totally. Flying the aircraft is the easy part. However, sitting around for a month between flights right out if training is frustrating when it comes to familiarity with various station ops along with consistently applying SOPs. Use it or lose it, the saying goes.

Hmm...the regionals are canceling flights in droves because they can't staff them. The majors have guys sitting around so much they cant stay current. Maybe it's time to bring some of that flying back in-house?
