100 in 120 Consolidation

Some of you think that I am purposefully shirking my responsibilities or deliberately trying to get out of flying. On the contrary, I'm a team player and want to fly. But each time that I've tried to do aggressive pickup, I get denied. So I called scheduling yesterday and I get the response I mentioned previously. Not sure what else I am expected to do. Hilltopper, if you have any suggestions as to how I'm supposed to get trips, I'm all ears.

I think it depends on fleet and base. I have friends that can't beg, borrow, or steal a trip. Me on the other hand, I can't get an extra day off. It all depends where you are. I don't think he is gaming the system. Reserve sucks.....

Hey, I'm new here too. I'm just putting 2 & 2 together based on your other posts where you say you never call them and that you refuse to do their job. You said it yourself that you don't call them "ever" and later that you've only ever called them once. So which is it? By your own admission it doesn't sound like their phone is ringing off the hook from your number at 11:00 every day.
I don't know what the answer is. Are other new hires at EWR having this problem? If not, re-examine your approach. Ask your fellow new hires how they do it. Ask to talk to the supervisor at scheduling would be another good place to start. If they can't resolve it move up the food chain. Are you attempting APU online only? Call them at 10:58 and do both. That seems to work for me one way or the other. Again, good luck, my friend.

I wasn't trying to imply you were playing games. Sure maybe the company owes you the time to get consolidated, I don't know I'm just a new guy. I personally didn't want to be in that position however to have to answer why I wasn't done in time.
To Medic or any other fellow probes, with regards to APU, I'm by no stretch of the imagination an expert but I was able to get off high mins and through consolidation relatively expeditiously. If anyone would like, feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to talk APU techniques. I get not wanting to stare at CCS all day on reserve if you're lucky enough to live local, but at the same time you have to remember you're competing for flight time with guys that commute in and don't want to sit around.

Folks the way this used to work at UAL. Is that after IOE you were given a line called a consolidation line. This line of flying would ensure that you got your consolidation time all wrapped up before you were released to line on reserve.
DUHHH..........
But like everything else here since the invasion the new and improved way of doing things might be new but it's definitely not improved. In fact it's retro, it doesn't work as well as it used to and it's just plain old stupid for the most part.

I totally agree with everything you said and did. You are not here to fix problems for management and until these mistakes are made public at the highest level possible the stupidity will continue.
