One of the peeps at your interview works for Mother U and has no interest in anything ALPA, outside of its eradication from the property. Management hates unions, this management especially. If you come across as the next Samuel Gompers I think you will undermine your chances of grabbing the "No longer Brass", now Galvanized Ring.

I get exactly what you saying. I treaded very lightly with my union work talk and mentioned how my position was rewarding as I assisted both the pilot group and company in making the daily operation more productive with resolving possible conflicts early and so on. The little discussion we had was all about stepping up to help make the airline a better place and that was that.
I can imagine if a candidate went in with both guns drawn and made a hardline impression than that could easily result in a negative result.
I guess it's all about selling what you got in a manner that pleases both the line pilot and HR rep.
