Optimism runs rampant during BI.
800 eligible to retire may actually make 4a2b more likely if expectations don't pan out. Overmanning for our expected post peak drop off is in place so the company can respond to unexpected retirements. Just look at how the line averages in the 777 and 757 are no longer so high. 4a2b is now available to management as a tool so we will never see desperate undermanning again, IMHO. Remember when they scrambled to do off-site training during hiring? Not anymore.
But I'm counting on actual retirements between now and Jan will make it all work out.

I too am reasonably worried about another round of 4.a.2.b lower monthly guarantees after peak.
I'm VERY disappointed that my union didn't fix this problem in out latest LOA!*? What were they thinking!*? Fortunately, I can manage on the lower pay (still in f/o house, with first wife) but why should I have to?
For you poolies out there ... management would be REQUIRED to stop hiring if 4.a.2.b is invoked again. For your sake and ours ... I hope not!
