Fdx Rumor Control
#22
Mostly old rants about the same issues and no one listens to anything but their own awesome posts. The PFC FDX cargo section has gotten tired and stale.
FXDX - you and your buds have already given up on the biggest part of the contract. Somehow I knew you guys didn't have the staying power. I guess there's only enough energy left to complain.

No matter how much we thought we had, if they didn't believe we had it then we didn't. (edited)
Didn't we finally fill HKG without newhires? Sure we did STV for awhile but I think it got filled. I'm sure someone thought CGN would get filled. Now we have newhires going to HKG and CGN.
Somebody might think saddling newhires with debt just to save the company a little coin on SIBA is not the way to go.

And we never used the STV clause in the contract. We used SIBA.
I think you are wrong on both statements. Just saying.

STV, SIBA...whatever. MEM pilots doing FDA flying.
There was a period when no A300 MEM FOs were being sent to HKG BEFORE we started hiring again.
So full or not, they were happy with the manning. They were happy to keep it a little short in HKG while MEM was more than full.
Now we can't seem to send newhires to both domiciles fast enough. Manning is tighter than it was before so generating extra SIBA lines would create a need to train more widebody FOs. Which might empty out the 727 too quick and cause extra newhires to be brought on.
So there has been a shift in thinking. Letting folks come back when their time is up in HKG has changed the dynamic. Crewmemembers are now happy to wait on their MEM upgrades instead of moving to HKG and management sees no change in the pilot mindset anytime soon. Or so I postulate.

Frankly, as a union member, I like the way the FDA are staffed. If the company wants to make changes we should only agree to them if they:
1. Guarantee no 4A2b for 3 years or
2. Give us perpetual 3% pay raises (just like UPS) until the next contract or
3. Fix accepted fares and implement real time trip trading.

If the rumors pan out, we may now have more leverage.
Like it has been with many issues here, if crewmembers don't follow the carrot put in front of them, perhaps a bigger carrot is in order.
You may have a great crystal ball and saw this coming but middle management doesn't use your crystal ball. They like to wait and see. They seem somewhat old school and think they have us figured out. It would be nice to school them every once in awhile.

All great ideas ... what do we have to do to get the NC to think this way?
