Fdx Rumor Control

I feel your frustration. Friends and family of management always come first followed by "legacy" hires. The interviewing of FedEx pilot offspring that is so formalized it has it's own name. They come second. Then the military network. Everyone else fills in the gaps.
Maybe the military network started to fill in the gaps for those not in the sweet spot. I expect that will change as the food fight goes on.
No recs required? Sure, if you have MD-11 experience or fill whatever the sweet spot is for the moment. Otherwise they help a lot.

Gunter,
Thanks. Will keep watching and waiting but not holding my breath. A buddy of my father in law told me the hardest thing he every had to do in the industry was convince the management of the grocery store he was staying produce manager even if the airline called him back.
Memphis is nice in the spring...

757Golf,
2. What is an LCA? Line Check Airman
3. Does FedEx give points for different airplanes or are they treated the same? Don't know
Does heavy times count the same as CRJ900 time? Don't know
4. Does FedEx give points for international experience? Don't know
5. The application ask for manual lands, what is the sweet spot number? Don't know
Sorry I can't help you with definitive answers! I suspect that there are different point values for each of the items you are asking about and an assumption can be made that more/bigger/farther is better in most cases. Just make sure you don't get too much more/bigger/farther etc. !!
"You must stay in the sweet spot, otherwise you are untrainable to our exotic FedEx methods..."
Good luck to everyone - it's worth the effort!

I was looking for a word to describe the current hiring process at FDX and all I could come up with is Weird! This immediatly brought to mind the shrink with the rocking chair at Delta in the '80s. Didn't that guy come to a self-inflicted demise? Anyone out there with the "rest of the story"?

To save everyone else the time -
KAFKAESQUE
adjective
1. of, pertaining to, characteristic of, or resembling the literary work of Franz Kafka: the Kafkaesque terror of the endless interrogations.
2. marked by a senseless, disorienting, often menacing complexity: Kafkaesque bureaucracies.
That is the perfect word, BTW, to describe FDX scheduling.

Yes, it is a possibility, but the troops overseas must still be supported. The military charters are not a cornerstone of our business model. It would seem to me that the folks at Atlas, Polar, Omni and other unsched charter outfits would be more fearful, for the government contracts have been their bread and butter for a long time and an important element of their business models.
