Maybe instead of negotiating this next contract in little bitty pieces when the company feels like they need something from us, we should save our ammunition and negotiate the whole contract. This would include a few items that may actually be of benefit to ALL of the pilot group, i.e., real pay raises, better work rules, real time trip trading, 4A2B protection, more sleep rooms, protecting retirement and vacation, the end of SUB, etc. How about a cap on FDA flying? Anyone thought of that?
Increasing the carrot overseas is only going to degrade your relative seniority in your seat as your flying is siphoned off to FDAs. Look at what is happening to the MEM 757 European flying. Aircraft and lines going to the FDA. This trend will continue.
When I came to work here (not that long ago) I didn't sign up to go live in China or elsewhere in order to upgrade. If the company wants to change the game they need to give up something more substantial than our last interim contract.
