Said FO is no longer on the pairing. Unfortunately I am unable to see his schedule (must have opted out!) so no idea what happened to him (with regards to trip/pay).

That being said.. more of these "E3IRO" pairings are popping up!

And, with regards to PBS... Got Bid Group 11, but Completion Mode 1. However, there are more Unavailable (Frozen for IOE) trips then ever before. And not just 76-4 trips (which are a bunch), but also 75-2 trips!

So, the question becomes- Has this Grievance resulted in a lose of bidable trips for the EWR756 community? (someone from the other BES will need to chime in..)
In my case, there were 1188 trips in my bid pool, of which 33 where held back for IOE and it left 85 trips to build me a line.
And some of these "held back" trips are trips I (unfortunately) use to get..
BHX, MAN, OSL, LIS, DUB, SNN...

Oh well..the fun continues~

Yes...a ton of senior trips in iah withheld for IOE....never seen that many withheld before.....

Here is the thing....we screwed ourselves. People wanted a free ride (bought off trip)...new rule from FAA wasn't going to let that happen. We need 4 crew in pit during IOE now..period!
So now the few that wanted to double-dip (because "that is the way it used to happen") have managed to hurt us all... Cheers to them...

Bunkie in CAL lingo. In the Working Together spirit of things, I respectfully submit we rename the position "BRO" for Bunkie Relief Officer.

So what would your solution be? When you get hosed in the future, should the union simply ignore those provisions of the contract as well and give you the wave off? Or should the union protect them? When your seniority is being abrogated, shall we just whistle Dixie and shuffle off with our tails between our legs?

It is after all, a contract. We are expected to uphold our end and so should the company. Further, I don't think the majority of guys want to "double-dip". They just want to fly the trip which their seniority allows them to hold. And if the company needs that seat, then they should accommodate that pilot. Clearly just screwing the guys who were reassigned isn't the only solution to the companies problem. Its a shame that you seem to think so.

Mako, I do not think company should be able to screw ANYONE... but, FAA changed rules post contract correct?
Union could have been proactive with a solution BUT, they were not!

I want to choke the golden goose....I don't want to kill it!

How financially does it make sense for the company to buy 3 of the 4 required positions of every IOE leg of every IOE pilot?? 1)capt leg bought by LCA 2)FO trip bought FBO 3)additional pilot required for FAA minimum.

I imagine you will say it is not your problem...company signed contract and they have to choke on it. My point is I don't want to KILL the goose! I like my job! I don't want to give the company a reason to outsource, or not hire, or not grow...all because I wanted to get paid to stay at home rather than babysit a new guy.

I do not drink company Kool aide....but what is your solution....that is economically viable to both?

I definitely didn't want to loose bid able positions due to being locked by IOE sched...how is that honoring senority!?

How about you let the LCA bid what his seniority can hold. Don't hold back any trips from the FOs. FBO the flying pilot and put the extra IRO slot into open time for someone to pickup.

How's that for a solution?

"I don't want to give the company a reason to outsource, or not hire, or not grow...all "

First hint of advice, "You can't save the/any company even if you work for free."

Second, Outsourcing isn't about "saving money," its about not having to deal with the employees. Hiring a firm to do the work is proven again and again to actually cost more, but the company can hire and fire a single company when they encounter a problem and not have to deal with each individual person.

As far as the displacement for training stuff goes, it has been past UAL practice to do such and the current UAL Management chose to blatantly disregard that practice. And this attitude seems to be a common thing these days.
