Here is how I approached the dreaded Hogan assessment. Got the welcome to the selection process email on a Tuesday night. Got the Hogan email with link on Wednesday at around noon. Proceeded to take a 90 minute nap. Woke up in a good mood, no TV, no distractions, no kids running around. Answered approximately 400 questions both tests nose to tail with no break, some exact copies of each other, some variations off of each other. Tried not to over think the answers, but probably like everyone else, went back through and reviewed my answers, changed about 4, and then hit submit. Then waited about 16 hours for the congratulations email. I know two guys in my squadron that have failed the Hogan, one guy twice. I don't consider their personality vastly differently than mine, not sure how I passed and they didn't. I will echo the advice in this thread, don't answer how you think they want you to, just be honest and consistent. Trying to cherrypick good answers might end up displaying inconsistencies, which is what I believe snagged my two buddies. Happy to get over this hurdle, and on to the next one.

And that, in a nutshell, is the problem with the Hogan. It doesn't fit common sense hiring practices in our profession. I'm just thankful I never had to take it or I probably wouldn't be working here.

Some Hogan gouge...

1. I'm a nice person
2. I like people
3. I'm afraid of normal things

... That's just a taste

Nothing. It's posted to a public forum, but worth something to think about for the Hogan candidates.

I did everything as you described and received a rejection email 16 hours later. Was it because I "failed" somehow? I'll probably never know because the email only said "There are numerous other factors, however, that weigh in to our decision-making. Although we are not in a position to provide you with specific feedback on your performance in our process, we do recognize that changes in experience and qualifications may yield a different result in the future. "

Either way, seems to be an inordinate amount of military pilots not making it past the assessment. Please PM me if you've fallen victim to the Hogan assessment or know someone who has. Thanks.
