He also said he heard maintenance was already training on CFM engine differences. It looked like there was TOMC guy on here...any word on the CFM training, or is that complete BS?

I dont think any airline will buy aircraft to lower the loads. The people have spoken and they want cheap fares even if they have to sit in the middle seat. If they are indeed buying these AC, they are doing it because they think they can fill up every seat in them.
My lower loads comment was referring to customer satisfaction rankings. That ranking can have a positive or negative impact on yields.
I understand your point of view; the vast majority of the public is only looking for the lowest overall price to get from point A to point B. I'd rather have the majority of our customer base be the briefcase crowd, not the flipflop and backpack crowd.

Yep, to pile on...I heard this rumor from a friend on the guppy that has a friend at TK who heard it from a PI there. (7 degrees of rumor)

hah,

Seriously though, I bet here and now that the rumor is true and the company announces it has purchased used A320s.
Can't wait for tomorrow!

The airbii rumors are likely true, but I doubt that they'll have CFM engines. And I very much doubt that United's getting any planes from F9.
Earnings call is 0930 CT tomorrow but there should be a press release prior to that. Anyone wanting to listen to the webcast can go here: United Continental Holdings, Inc. - Investor Relations - Event Details

Frontier has all CFM engines as well so I doubt anything from them. And I highly doubt indigo would sell frontier right now as Franke builds it up for IPO. The number would be massive IMO.
Hopefully we see some great news tomorrow. Maybe some glass conversions for the 756/76t fleet! Hey a guy can dream right?

I looked around and it definitely looks like the former Copa 737-700 purchase happened. I found an article titled: United buys former Copa 737s as it continues used aircraft search. Posted on flightglobal but it's behind a paywall.
