Their leased fleet appears to all have IAE engines.

And AGAIN, IIRC, these 747s were nicknamed "the lemon sisters".
But that was a long time ago, and I might confusing them with ANOTHER set of inherited airplanes.

Planes are 319s.
We plan on delivery of used A319s
We have reached an agreement with AerCap Holdings, a major aircraft leasing company, to lease used Airbus A319s. Eleven aircraft will be delivered over the next two years. In addition, up to 14 more aircraft may be delivered over the next five years subject to certain conditions. These aircraft will supplement our current fleet of 55 A319s and fly routes across our domestic, Caribbean and Latin American network, ultimately helping us reduce dependence on 50-seat regional jets.
For example, we might use two A319s on a route that we currently operate with three 70-seat regional jets, and use those three 70-seat regional jets on routes where we currently use four 50-seat regional jets.
“Our flexible fleet plan allows us to opportunistically add used aircraft when the economics are attractive. These used A319s are a part of the fleet plan refinements we announced recently during our first quarter earnings that will help us to achieve our longer-term network needs without substantially increasing our capital expenditures or planned capacity,” said Fleet VP Ron Baur.
These A319s are currently being operated by China Southern Airlines, and we will begin to take delivery in early 2016. Prior to entering revenue service, the aircraft will undergo heavy maintenance checks to bridge the aircraft to United’s maintenance program and modifications to substantially standardize the aircraft with the existing A319s, which will include all new seats, overhead bin extensions, Wi-Fi and streaming video.
The 773s are in ADDTION TO the 787s. We have delayed some 789 orders for reasons I won't discuss (no big issues just little politics).
Airbus 350 sim comes 2016 and will start making 350 pilots late 2016 if the plan holds. Joint training center should be coming soon. Best and final proposals by the three cities were yesterday.
All in all any mainline additions are a win. You can complain about the little things but this is a good thing.
The additional pilots we have been hiring is due to the need for these airframes as well as trying to build a little pad because all the airlines are hiring so heavily from the infamous "10,000."

IIRC, when UAL inherited some 747 classics/"rope starts" from ANOTHER U.S. Airline, there was a similar issue. It's simply a matter of how the customer ordered the airplane.
And AGAIN, IIRC, these 747s were nicknamed "the lemon sisters".

Exchange 10 787 orders with Boeing for 10 777-300ERs for delivery beginning in 2016. The new 777-300ER aircraft will provide attractive upgauge and range opportunities to the company at competitive economics.
Rainey confirmed it was an exchange in the Q&A.

They are calling it an exchange because we are changing the 789 for these 773. However we are going to use the options to get the newer improved planes back at a later time in the future (5-7 years). It's not advertised this way right now.
We jumped at these 773 because Boeing gave them to us at a great price. Boeing isn't happy with our maintenance reliability as the North American Launch customer. They say it's us and we say we it's them.
So we are irritated with each other. Boeing said take these and we will give the 789 to others who want them. Little posturing on both sides.

Hmmm... Interesting. I hope you're right. If we are indeed going to exercise options down the road to cover the 10 we swapped for the 773 (which is what UAL is saying publicly), are they going to be 789 or 7810?

here is a website link that shows all past and planned deliveries for 787s including production location. It is updated about 2 times per month.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...=2&output=html
The magic number 25 shows as planned for 11/20/2015. then 26,27,28 show coming in Jan and Feb of 2016 with airframes beyond that not having a scheduled date yet, but seem to be slotting like they would be out into the Summer of Fall of 2016.
The guy who keeps the list speculates that those that don't have a date yet, will actually be the ones that we swapped out. I hope not, but time will tell.
