I believe it will be 787-1000s. The only issues is that this plan has some softness to it that can change tomorrow and we just stick with the swap and not net more WB planes. If the demand from other airlines stays high, we may be out of luck. The economy and many other factors will dictate and boeing seems to be in the drivers seat.

I was talking with the 787 fleet manager and a few others today. This is what was passed. Nothing more. I don't like seeing the usual complaining even with good news. So you don't care about mainline growth?

Here's the take-away. UAL has too many "fleet planning specialists" We have too many cooks in the kitchen and it shows. In most of our processes and departments we have a "management by collaborative chaos" philosophy and a fundamental lack of leadership and decision-making, and on the execution side. This flows from the top though.
Senior corporate leadership: uninspiring, non competive, lack luster. WI-FI reliability: poor. MX reliability: psss poor. Staffing on the 76T: super poor. Long Haul PRASM: low due to lack of wide-bodies and poor planning. Attitudes: below par. Middle management: too layered, too cumbersome, incompetent, blame-gameers, redundant, over-staffed and bloated. Flight Office support: very good, considering culture of incompetence in middle management. Product supplied to passengers: below average, lacking.
I am an average airline pilot, so I don't care about our fleet planning specialists. I just want our airline to get its act together. Our fleet planning side is just reflective of the entire airline's incompetence. Why would this department be any different? Let's hear it for HR for hiring the best and the brightest.

SOTeric, Blockoutblockin, baseball, speculation/passing on rumors, etc are some of the things that happen on this forum. All three of you have engaged in the exact same thing that this thread has done. It is beyond hypocritical to complain about this thread.
And 'fleet planning specialists'? How is passing on rumors, citing company press releases, etc being a 'fleet planning specialist'? I'm unable to connect the dots on that illogic leap.
Like flybynuts said, complaining about good news? Seriously?

That's what I do. Fly, go home, fly, go home, rinse and repeat.

wow... fairly well polarized. I haven't been here in a while because of the chasm. Not here to offer any healing either. Blessed are the peacemakers? It ain't me, I aint no senator's son. Has anyone considered that the following may be the case?

, Surely you can see the contradiction of the person that says, "I fly my jet and go home" and then posts about it on the forum?
