- More 787 orders will be converted & 30 new 777-300s on their way. He indicated there won't be a long lag between first delivery and the final delivery.

Take it for what its worth...
WARNING: TK prediction batting average in my 20 years is .000. The closest they came to reality was predicting the exact opposite.

Ex: They were all convinced TK was moving to Houston until the day of the announcement.

Having extreme intimate knowledge of the TK information pool. I can tell you without any reservation whatsoever. Anything you hear at TK from an instructor regarding company business and future plans is absolute BS. Anything you hear from a manager at TK regarding the same falls into the same category.

Does anybody remember the brief moment in time when we were 100% sure that the 777 was being replaced by A-340-600's? I was at the meeting where it was announced and confirmed by a VP of flight ops and the DENTK manager at the time.

Seen any A-340-600's in UAL colors on the line recently?

I was going to post that yesterday. TK should stand for Total Krap, as far as the rumor mill goes.

My personal favorite was in summer of 2000, they said thousands of Dell laptops were already purchased, and were being sent to the airbus fleet the next month. The electronic flight bag.

Also the one, in the depths of the BK, there were a hundred Airbuses parked on the ramp in Toulouse painted and ready for delivery to UAL upon exit. Ha!

As mentioned, TK rumors are notoriously wrong. If you want to know what's going on either make you own educated guess based on reading between the lines of UAL's public statements or select the exact opposite of the rumor you heard last week at TK.

Setting aside TK's dismal prediction history, this rumor actually makes some sense to me. I think more 777s would be a good idea if we were to cancel the A350 order, I think this company needs another fleet type like it needs a $3B stock buyback. More small Buses (used, I hope) would help add back some capacity vs. all the 50 seat RJ retirements. Goes a long way towards explaining why the hiring pace is expected to easily outstrip retirements all the way through next spring. But, if it all makes sense then perhaps it is too good to be true...

The A350 order won't be cancelled.
The reason we have both Boeing and Airbus is price reduction for future orders. As for the A350 is concerned it won't have Sparky the Scab Wagon reliability issues. Even if it does when it arrives by then the reliability numbers for the ScabCab will be a nice insurance policy to keep the schedule running until big FiFi can catch up.

I disagree. I don't care what they choose to keep, but having 787, 777, and the 350, which all do the same exact thing, makes no sense. It massively complicates crew issues, for no benefit.

We could probably have bases in HNL, LHR, and NRT. But when we are flying 757, 767, 777,787, and 747, all to HNL and LHR, how would you open a base? It is way too complicated, with too many moving parts.

350's and 777's are so similar in size and mission, we should pick one and trade the others to another carrier with similar merger related fleet issues like American or Delta.
