Default Health Insurance Changes Coming :(

I just read a company email briefly discussing the upcoming enrolment.

Not happy about what I read so far.

Aetna is going away for some of us- depending on your state.

The pharmacy provider is changing to CVS, not good for us either.

We have been very pleased with Aetna these last several years.
My recollection of Blue Cross ( the new provider in Texas), from years ago was they were about as helpful as the TSA.

Since we live in a small rural community, Walmart pharmacy was available as well as the local pharmacy.

The nearest CVS is 25 miles away.

Express Scripts has been very reliable for mail order stuff.

My neighbor had to change to CVS from Express Scripts this last year- he is very dis-satisfied with them.

Is changing to CVS a requirement? Im confused on how this will affect me good or bad but must prefect by saying I'm not a fan of change at all. I have been using Walgreens and it seems like everything is covered the same. I want to say I read in that briefing that generic prescriptions were not affected by this.

I am THRILLED that we are getting rid of Aetna.

BCBS is a much better company to deal with (at least in the Chicago area).

Agreed. I had reasonable performance with BC/BS. Aetna, not so much.

no issues with aetna so far..all depends on plan of course. BCBS has excellent customer service. I had them for over 10 years prior to UAL. I haven't had to call Aetna yet.

When we switched to Aetna, I lost chiropractic care and 3 of our family doctors.

I think Aetna is fine if you don't use it much, but if your family has health issues…not so much.

BCBS isn't perfect. You really need to check that you are covered before a medical appointment or procedure. They do seem to cover more, and every doctor we see says it's MUCH better than AETNA to work with.

Does anyone know if our health care plan will be subject to the "Cadillac Tax" of Obamacare in 2018? It's a 40% tax on healthcare plans valued at over $10,200/$27,500 (individual/family). I have read that the flexible spending accounts generally put the value above the limit and so we might see those go away as well.

We will be subject to the cadelac tax. That's why alpa is lobbying the politicians now to get the law changed. Welcome to our universal healthcare. Anyone who supported obamacare can't say a damn thing. Funny how all the negative changes happen after he leaves office. And after the 2016 election for that matter.

I voted for him, and proud that we now have expanded health care. If I pay a small tax that helps others get coverage that they could not afford otherwise, so be it.

40% is not a "small tax".
