Anyone have any experience in doing an HDO/VDO conversion?
I just sold a few holy days and flew a trip. I don't see any pay for the days or any add pay.
what should I be looking for on pay register.
thanks

It would show up in add pay. But did you call and pick up the trip while on VHDO or did they call you? If you called them you might not get the add pay.

You didn't sell them anything. All you did was move your Reserve Days. If you converted a HDO into a VDO and they used you, you will get 50% Add pay for the trip. They will now convert a reserve day into an RDO on the front end of your next group of days off. The other option is that they pay you 4 hours of Add pay for that HDO so they don't have to restore your day off. You can only do this for a single day.
You did not sell them your HDOs...and if you did...it can only be one day.

If you were on call for 2 days and then had 2 days off and agreed to make those two days VDOs and accept a 4 day trip, you will only get the 50% add pay for the flying in the last two days of the trip.
Conversely, if you were on days off and agreed to make them VDOs and accept a 4 day trip that starts on one of those VDOs you get 50% add pay for the whole trip (even if they only had to move one day off)
The moral of the story is changing your last day off to a VDO and agreeing to start a trip on that day is much more valuable than making your 1st day off a VDO and working a trip into that day!

Or how about you quit enabling scheduling's lack of proper staffing and enjoy your days off

But you can use it to your advantage as well, more than just pay. I.e. You have reserve days Wednesday through Sat. You you change your Tues. HDO to a VDO. If they use you for a 4 day trip you now have Sat. off which you normally wouldn't have gotten and you're enjoying your Sat. off...

well, I decided to sell two HDO and convert to VDO.
Scheduler called me and asked me if I could make it happen.
I decided to do it to pay for a new set of tires...blah blah blah....
Anyway. before the trip, my pay was at 79:32. After the trip, it was still sitting at 79:32. Filed PDR with union. numerous phone calls to scheduler, scheduler supervisor, crew pay and chief pilots office. scheduler feels they can simply move days off (two) of them, and doesn't want to now pay for my two days. You think I am ever going to do this again?????No way. No way. We need a separate LOA to cover this provision otherwise its total garbage. Three days now of fighting for my pay. The way I see it they owe me 4 hours for each day, which is 8 hours for a two day trip, plus the fifty percent add pay which was about 6 hours as the trip was worth 12ish and change. The add pay shows up, but thats all. Chief Pilot is frustrated with crew pay. I filed 3 pay claims and I will continue to file pay claims, but short of that and a PDR I don't know what else I should do.
On the bigger picture, can someone explain to me why our pay system is totally top secret? I should be able to transparently understand and view all pay transactions so that I can see compliance with the contract and so that I can see if my pay is right. We need ALPA to get a better pay system. How much money are we losing as a pilot group because of things like this?

Your MPG or Line Value stayed at 79:32? If Your MPG was 79:32 but your line value number was somehow lower than that then your credit will stay at 79:32 until your one value exceeds 79:32. With that trip you should see some sort of increase in your line value.
Seeing the 50% of flight time plus DH time included in your add pay is correct.
Also, do you have a screen shot of your master schedule showing you VHDOs?
