Default Crew Companion- Trip Potentially Open

What does this mean? On the trade board it shows up with a question mark and says that it will be potentially open. Under trade details it says, "Owner's Drop/Trade Desires Unknown." What triggers a trip to show up like this?

The hacked mic/camera function in Crew Companion has determined that although you've put your trip up for a trade, discussions in the vicinity of the computer indicate high likelihood of a sick call if trade or pickup does not occur.

I kid. I'd like to know what it means as well.

The same crack IT team that can't keep our own webpages serving to us can somehow crack into a iOS device and access the camera when the NSA can't do the same thing?

I'd be impressed if anyone in that department know how to turn on an iPad.

It means the person that is currently assigned the trip is either trying to trade out of it or drop it. Doesn't mean it will happen but they are trying to get out of it.

I believe that is when a person uses the Advertise function in CCS to put the trip out there. Not sure what the point is other than to throw a line in the water.

Actually - it means that the person put in a drop or trade request in the company sponsored seniority based trip trade system (STT).

That same person has yet to - or doesn't know to - open up crew companion "my trades" (or my pick up requests if they are a reserve) to sync the crew companion interface with the the STT request they have already submitted.

Crew companion is an overlay - to ease understanding and increase functionality- or the underlying STT system.

Think:"Windows" on a DOS system.

The "advertisement" and "mutual trade" functionality of CCS is a holdover from CAL - and still does work as a way to advertise your trip is avail for pickup and or trade - but is COMPLETELY separate of the STT, and therefore also separate from crew companion. As a result - unless someone places a matching "drop" or "trade" request in STT/CC no one is able to pickup or offer a trip in trade in this legacy CAL interface until after 11am the day prior to the trip.

Okay thanks good to know! As a reserve commuter who tries to use aggressive pickup to try to have some control of my schedule, I like to keep an eye out for trips that may open up.

There is a legend tab up top in case you have more questions.

All the legend tab says is what the OP already asked about. Have you looked at the legend tab?

To the OP, thanks for posting this...the lengthy explanation given mid-thread was appreciated. I always wonder if I'm missing out on anything by solely using CC...
