I wouldn't go that far but it has definitely improved over the past couple of years.

HA! It's like the guys who say they HATE flying red eyes so they fly to Europe all month.

I had an opportunity to interview with FedEx last Spring but the position was for Hong Kong (B767) only and that was not in our best interest so I declined. Sustained, backside of clock flying is tough so that was another reality check. Looking back, I am happy here at UAL and glad that I stuck with my initial decision. With the plethora of retirements coming, UAL offers a lot of movement and choices of domiciles.

Flying the occasional redeye or even one or two a week is not even remotely similar to flying a night freight schedule. Sitting for the sort sucks and we do nothing like that at UAL. Night after night.

I got hired by UAL and AA. UAL got me into class before AA did. AA was my first choice, but once I was in class at UAL, I really liked it and decided to stay put. I'm happy with how it worked out because UAL is a good fit for me.

Exactly. I'm wondering if those comparing the occasional red eye to FedEx style flying have done it. I have and that is why I said I don't even have an app in with them. To each their own.

Yeah I've done it as well. I don't care what it pays. I am not interested in ever flying night freight again.

A friend of mine, who declined a legacy for Fedex, explained to me this hub turn thing they do. Does not sound fun at all.

I have yet to see a redeye that wasn't oversold or damn near close to it. I am sure there are some, but when I've flown them, or non rev'd on them, they've all been pretty damn close to if not completely full.....so I guess it's good for the PS checks.

Agreed. Seem like every "old" FEDEX pilot I know has a heart attack pre-60. No thanks.

I had an interview scheduled with Delta, but turned it off when UAL called with a job offer. I am all in for my next career to be a United career.
