I hate to say it, but you are asking a question that has been asked 10,000 times.

None of us have the answer. I wish I did.

I have a buddy who is as much a brother to me as my own blood and for whom I would put my own seniority number down as collateral on his success; a guy who I have worked every angle and pulled out every stop to help get on, and he hasn't heard a peep.

I meant move to a UAL domicile of choice... With the end goal of getting assigned there... You may have to commute for a while... But you'll be happier long term IMO.

Track down Johnnie Scott...long time Enid resident. He can fill you in on all the commute options.

Great place! Bunches of folks I know did this commute for many years while raising their kids. Still listen for the "Vandy" call sign when nearby, abeam END on the fix page and VHF 119.77.

Not a military guy here but wouldn't it be easier to live in/near your airline domicile and commute to the reserve/guard assignment?

You'll be commuting four or five times per month to your airline job. Isn't the guard/reserve job much less than that?

I live in brick town and commute to lax for now. Did 15.5 years active. Pm me and I'll fill you in on everything I've learned. So glad I punched, very happy with United as i turned delta class down a month ago, and don't regret exiting mil as late as I did.

With trip trade and mil dropping it wouldn't be much different.

Live where your reserve unit is until you decide to punch. I made the jump to live in domicile and you end up being gone on UAL trips and then gone doing reserve commitment.
Live in Edmond now, definitely like living where my reserve sq is.

Done both. Living in your domicile and commuting to mil gig is much better, especially in the long run.
