Sorry....Tesla is the official car of Marin.

As a NB guy I hate short calls. I rarely get used on LC, but there always seems to be a den of lax turn that pops up and the SC gets stuck with it. I don't think that happens very often on the WB. They can keep the extra couple hours of pay and leave me on LC.

Reserve utilization comes and goes. It's the middle of summer and I haven't flown since the 1st. Full disclosure; they still got me for two short calls.

I love getting paid to not work, but I really miss flying, too. My observation is that most of the open flying gets snapped up by line holders looking to improve their paycheck. If there's any Hawaii flying in there? It pretty consistently gets nabbed by folks around 5000 numbers junior to me.

Living in Marin County and being junior on reserve would be a pretty good deal. Sit those SC out at the house.

It's taken me 90 min to go from the Bay Bridge to SFO.

I can confirm that.

I live 102 miles from SFO: it has taken me 1:45 and it has taken me 3:30 to make that drive (averaging about 2:20). I give myself 3 hours and haven't had a flight go out late on my behalf yet, but I've had to do the phone-call dance a couple mornings.

If you're not through the toll plaza by 6:30 AM, you are hosed.

So living in Sac on probation...probably preposition myself closer to The City on SC days then?

We probably live in about the same neighborhood, I've driven to SFO in 1:30...at 10a on a Holiday. I've driven to SFO in...****, too long to even keep track!

I sat SC at home, but was locked and loaded ready for the call: bags packed, uniform hanging in the car, shaved late the night before if it began at 4 AM.

Took two cars everywhere when out with the family, and a no-BS short call out only happened to me a couple of times, but you can still live your short call life at home while living in the greater Sac area.

6:30?? Only if there are no problems on the bridge. I was through there this morning at 6, and metering lights were on slow. Stop and go over the new span to the tunnel. Vallejo with only 3 lanes is now stop and go till you pass the Carquinez, at 5 am...

I'd say safer by 6 to 6:15 any more to the toll plaza.

Galaxy,
Sounds like you live in/near Natomas. I know guys that live further out than that and who do Reserve and short call.
102 miles... you should be good to go.
