Maybe if the locals were more aware, they would pick up the SC so the commuters won't be harassed.

Promise you that locals know very well. In Bay Area there just aren't that many locals. Anyone commuting to reserve esp w/no pad is setting themselves up for annoyance. The guys that live in other domiciles who reach for WB seats in EWR/SFO don't get much empathy from me when they rant about the wrongs of SC.

my third short call this month.
So a junior 777 SFO FO who lives in base on reserve could get 76 hours of credit a month pretty easily? How much flying would one do? Are the trips and flying fun?

Thanks

I'm a Dulles guy and hitting 76 is pretty easy. As far as SFO, I don't have first hand knowledge. Regarding trips, I've figured out what sleep habits work for me, so the trips are pretty easy and fun. One week I can walk the great wall, one week, I'm eating mussels in Belgium. However, my goal as an in base reserve is to only have to drive to the airport 2-3 times a month...tops. Otherwise, getting paid for sitting on my couch is the brass ring.

I'm in LAX, but WB reserve in base is great-no way would I bid NB CA rsv. I probably wouldn't even as a line holder. Only having one block of immovable days off is annoying when planning out your month, but if you can live with that, it's awesome.

SFO 777 flying is in a quandary. It mostly went away when the 787 took most of our Pacific flying. Not much left. Guam, HNL, EWR, ORD, IAD, LHR, and CDG. That's about it. They have not bumped, just sitting around. So, there must be a plan, right?

So, lots of guys sitting around not flying much on reserve. Lots of short calls with nothing going on. Which means, yes, you get pay, great if you live in base, sucks if you don't.

We should get some of that Pacific flying back when the 777-300ER's start coming. But till then, nothing to see here, move along...
