The difference occurs if you fly enough that your Line Value is higher than MPG. If thats the case -the increase in MPG isnt worth $. - If it was paid in Add Pay (which it isn't) then that would be in addition to your Line Value.

Amazing.
I didn't expect this much discussion from my innocent question.
Since there were so many responses from this I think it may be good for ALPA to come out with an update on this or something just to clear the air.
let me ask my question another way.
Sat reserve for entire month. My MPG is 73 hours. No leaves or absences of any type.
I didn't fly a single trip this month. But, I got 5 short calls with no assignments. (Clearly I must be living right).
Is my MPG affected, or is it add pay?
If the MPG is affected did it go up to 74, 75, 76, or 77 hours?
If my MPG was not affected, and I only receive add pay, will I receive;
1, 2, 3, or 4 hours of add pay?
I am thinking my add pay goes up by 3 hours. Yes/No?

My MPG increased by 1 hr per SC after the first 2. I had .00 in add pay.

Wrong. Its NOT add pay.
if you want to think of it as "add pay" because your MPG goes up, go right ahead. -and if you don't fly much that month -un used SC's do increase your paycheck. But its not add pay. if you fly a lot, unused SC's don't increase your paycheck.
if you flew zero hours and had 3 unused short calls. your MPG would increase by one hour from 73 to 74. your add pay would still say 0.0
if you flew 90 hours and had 3 unused short calls. those short calls are for free. your MPG would go up to to 74. Your line value is 90. your add pay would still say 0.0
if unused short calls were add pay (they aren't) then you would get paid 90 hours plus 1 hour of add pay (91 hours)

The fact that this discussion is occurring LONG after the ink has dried on our current Swiss Cheese contract is proof that we need to do a much better job negotiating and writing the next one. And we need have the stones to shoot it down if it contains this type of obfuscation.
