Just to be clear.....CAL doesn't claim Jeff. He was the fault of Vincent and Elkins Law firm in Houston.
His firm was contracted by CAL legal to work on the proposed Delta merger. It fell through. Jeff wound up getting a bid to work at CAL and after Gordon's departure he was elevated. Gordon didn't think much of Jeff in the area of Operations and Management. He was a corporate transaction attorney.

I don't see any growth this year. Mainly flat.
Capacity goes out, and capacity gets replaced.
Decisions to park B757's was a bad one. Those should have been maintained. picking up 737's doesn't do the job of the 756 fleet.
B747 reliability is poor. Changes must be made for the future as well as the here and now. We've PO'd too many big spending customers on our poor operational performance. We need reliability now, and we need increased lift capacity and fleet commonality in the short term, and a robust and reliable wide body fleet for the future.
Too many 737's. Stop already! They don't go across the pond (where the money is).
Is the A350 real or imaginary at UAL?

I think what we already know belies that fact. Going from memory here, but isn't the expected count for 2017 something like 13-777, 4-787, 11 A319,4 737-800 all scheduled to come in while the only scheduled retirement is 20 747s which we grossly under utilize because of reliability PLUS we are adding a substantial amount of block hours to both the 737 fleet and the Airbus fleet which, although not airframe growth, is pilot growth none the less.
Then also we will hopefully know more in a week or so when they announce the 2017 fleet plan.
I've said it several times now, but this management team has shown great discipline and is planning for 1% fleet growth going forward. For the time being I just don't see any negatives, AND lets not forget that in 2016 the fleet grew from 715 to 736 which was 3% growth. That's huge when taken in context of the last decade.

I certainly won't.

Umm Jeffery and his minions are the dopes that drained any chance of reliability at the combined company esp LH operation. If you are like the majority of CAL pilots you knew pre merg that Jeff was bad news. But if you have allowed yourself to believe that CAL was still Gordo koolaid land in 2009 I can't help ya.

the 100 seat pay rates are not where they should be but having the airplane will allow us to compete without getting our butts kicked. Add better 100 seat pay to the list of stuff we kicked down the road with the contract extension.

Your right we should be an all wide body airline like EK. All the pay rates below WB pay are POS.

And 757 you guys have some serious Stockholm syndrome bromance over Bethune.
