2 out of 3 Applications are "Completed" and "Active", 2018 and 2019 respectively. Now waiting for a job fair, in order to gain exposure. I will update regularly as I did in the past. Any other suggestions are welcome.

When you guys update your apps, are you updating all 2, 3, 4 of them at once, or just the most recent?

Lots of good advice here. I think a job fair is your best bet and good luck with that.

Just to clarify the different applications. The way it was explained to me, anything prior to your 2019 application might be showing as “completed”, “active”, “on file”, etc. but for all practical purposes those applications are ‘invisible’ or exempted from the selection process. The only applications which are included in the 2019 selection process are the 2019 applications.

It’s been like this for a while and yet I still run into people who’ll say “I applied 4 years ago and haven’t heard anything.” When asked if they reapplied each year they often respond “no, am I supposed to?”

Thanks for the reply, that clarified it and also makes sense. Unfortunately attending a job fair for me is very difficult as I'm working/flying in Europe but hopefully one day..

Default When to Apply?

I am available for work after I retire from AD Air Force on May 1 2020 and wanted to know when I could/should apply? Also wanted to get thoughts on my experience with only 3100 fighter hours.
-Lt Col
-3100 total hours (mostly fighters)
-1400 combat hours in Iraq, AFG, Syria
-actively flying F-15 instructor and evaluator pilot
-Flight Safety School trained
-Graduated Director or operations
-Advanced Instrument School graduate
- IP at an ATP school in the Seneca
-#1 overall UPT grad for the entire air force in 2005.
-many volunteer hours at meals on wheels and church

I was planning on going to the OBAP in August of 2019 and have one contact at UPS. What is the earliest UPS would call for an interview and what are thoughts on getting an interview and the applying timeline?

Are you current? Will you be within 2 years? If not, SW gives you an extra year out of the cockpit.

Your resume is good enough to get the interview, if they look at your application. The two reliable ways to accomplish that are an internal recommendation or talk to them at a job fair. They probably won’t interview you before 4-6 months prior to your availability date. They will ask in the interview when you go terminal. They aren’t interested in you playing games with leave so you can start a month or two sooner. My boss was willing to work with me, but I guess the company has been burned in the past. My training partner was a pointy nose type and was hired with substantially fewer hours. Good luck. Life as a retired military guy at UPS is pretty Cush.

Some people get the call further out, but Jan 2020 would probably be the perfect time. Any earlier and you just have to re-do it again in January. If you go to a job fair prior, you want to have your application in prior. I think the ideal is: 1) submit in Jan, 2) have an internal submit immediately after, 3) attend a job fair in Feb-Mar. The applicant pool is at its smallest and you highlight yourself with a 1-2 punch right as everything is active. You have plenty of experience. My observation is UPS likes to pull from a variety of backgrounds and understand that most people with fighter backgrounds have fewer hours. The good news is you typically have about the same PIC time as you do flight time. I will give a piece of advice - take it or leave it. When you craft your resume, do it so that someone who doesn't know anything about the military can read it. Combat sorties make great stories and Director of Operations is a great job, but understand that UPS HR is a small office of mostly career HR personnel. You don't want them to have to take your resume to someone to translate. Not saying to leave that stuff off, just recommending that you do the translating as you write it.

I got the auto rejection email when I applied 2 years ago. Can I use my same email address to apply again?
