If that's the idea, great! I don't have a car and will need one during the training.. If anyone wants to rent and share a car let me know! I don't want to drive all the way from BOS. I read on RST UPS facebook page that one retired UPS captain has a car rental business and it is very affordable to rent from them, but can't find the post anymore.

Relax and have fun. Spend time with family and friends. Do something you want to do. You will have plenty of time to prepare and study when class starts.

I second Kasse’s advice above but if you must for whatever reason:
  • get a copy of limitations and memory items and learn cold
  • get a copy of master question bank and start working on it
This assumes you know which fleet you’re getting which you probably won’t so not really helpful. Not much else you can do for training…maybe get the TO and approach briefings down..? You could get into the contract, specifically article 13 (scheduling) as you don’t really have time until we’ll after IOE to really worry about anything in it. We use JEPP charts, could brush up on them if using others.

What I recommend (to people I know) to do before class:
  • sign up to all major airline and hotel chain awards memberships
  • consider getting a high end CC, something like chase sapphire or Amex plat
    • apply pay is handy overseas
    • apple card good too - can instantly get new card number if you have fraud issue.
    • Charles Schwab checking account = no intl ATM fees.
  • get a good password app - you’ll get a ton of logins from UPS
  • have 401K info ready to go for rollover
  • consider how to fully fund 401K during year 1
  • square up finances - it’s 13 months of tiny paychecks.
  • Is your passport close to expiring? Ideally you’ll want to show up with a newer PP especially if on an international fleet.
  • if going intl, consider intl cell phone and data options. T-Mobile is popular. Pokefi an option too.
  • Headset: if you’re a commuter you’ll probably want something like the Bose QC with uflymike option so you can use the headset during commute.
  • intl? Get a currency wallet or two. Baglini makes a good one.
Finally and most important: learn how to sleep anywhere, anytime, and fast. Some of the meditation apps (headspace) out there have great guided sessions thus teaching you the techniques. Takes lots of practice but worth its weight in gold.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
