UPS Typical Schedule
#451
So long as we have retirements, there will be opportunities to move to SDF out of ANC. ANC will probably always have the highest potential earnings and that will always attract a steady stream of folks chasing dollars. Hiring may be slower than the halcyon years of the past half decade or then again it might not. Right now the company is hunkering down for a recession as soon as that is over or fails to appear we will start pursuing more high quality volume and likely announce the airframe that will be the future of the company. Remember, the 76 will go out of production in 2027 and all other fleets are already out of production.

If you’re on the 75/76 domestic fleet and are operating a trip that mostly flies the 757, probably 3-4 a day on average. If it’s a domestic trip that mostly flies the 767, then probably 2-3 per day. Airbus is probably right in the middle, 2-4 legs per day depending on trip.

FedEx guy here. I was curious about your day flying and how much if it you have, and what % it is vs. overall flying?
Our USPS postal contract expires next year. A large part of our day flying is the US Mail. About 45% of 767 bidpack is pure daytime flying. (Airbus/MD a little less, 757 a lot less, and 777 is all international).
I’m just trying to get an idea of what our flying might look like if the postal contract is not renewed, or is a smaller amount (as it’s been suggested, already).
Thanks!

I've been doing a LOT of SDF-CGN-SDF (or SDF-CGN-PHL-SDF). It seems like it always works out for me that there's one big trip (generally either SDF-CGN-HKG-DEL-CGN-SDF or similar or just keep going SDF-CGN-HKG-ANC-SDF) plus a couple of smaller trips, whether that be SDF-CGN-SDF or SDF-HNL-ONT-SDF or something similar). Once you get a little bit of seniority, you start getting the ability to conflict, which is nice, maybe bring the 14 days down to 12 or so.
That's just a snapshot for a guy bidding about 75% in base and seat and who lives in SDF. If you're a commuter or substantially junior or senior to that, I'm sure the picture is quite different. Even more so if you're ANC based.

They vary enough that's hard to give an easy overview. Schedules were really bad in ANC (for commuters, anyway, lots of shows, lots of little stuffer trips) for a while, but I've heard they've gotten better recently. For a pretty junior guy in SDF, assuming I don't require certain days off, I can hold a line, although there aren't a lot of choices left when it gets down to me. Or a VTO, no problem. A Reserve still seems to go pretty junior, B Reserve quite a bit less so (I can't hold it, I tried).
