S8,
Saw a breakdown of Delta's recent civilian hiring - not 1 UPS alumn (not the case for FedEx). Asked friends at UAL and AA to keep an eye out for any 5X new hires, though with no concrete evidence in this case it seems to be the same result. Just scratching my head why you are so intense in trying to scare people off. Like it or not, our pilot group and the (intentionally left blank) we work for have a mutual interest to attract the best. Disseminating realistic information is one thing but is it really that bad when no one is leaving and guys like you don't even have the motivation to fill out an application much less actually change employers? I agree people should give much consideration before committing to brown (and purple) vs pax legacies: hours of operation, hazmat (especially Li), domicile options, etc., but to RUN away as fast as they can? This place ain't an ACMI, LCC, or a regional. Thanks to the IPA guys who've done the heavy lifting and fighting over the years for that, otherwise it would be. But there just doesnt seem to be any benefit in chasing people away.

I believe there are several brown applicants on file. To my knowledge not one has been contacted, I am not sure wether to attribute that to our furloughed guy they fired or that we are in negotiations, and they think we will turn down the offer if a contract is ratified? Who knows.
While I am not naive enough to think that it would be nirvana, it could not possibly compare to the culture we have here. And let's not forget that one of the cargo carriers is actually growing its business and buying airplanes.
Carry on......

All FedEx aircraft that are being bought are replacement aircraft. Don't think they are "growing." Their current hiring is due to attrition.

I truly don't think we are attracting the best pilots we can anymore, I think that was the case 9 years ago, but not now. Brown could care less what they have in the seat, and could care even less if they went to another carrier, they would simply replace the new hire with another new hire, that simple. And save even more money.
As far as "guys like me" I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I would guess you mean "unhappy". I have filled out the app (purple) and I would go. It's an easy decision for me.
Let me ask you this? When were you hired? If you don't want o be specific that's fine, but there are STARK differences in a late 07 hire to the life of an early 07 hire or even an 06 hire. How many displacements have you been through? How many different aircraft in one year? How many years were you furloughed (from UPS)
If you can answer those questions the same way that I can, then we can have a discussion on the same level. Otherwise I respectfully say that we have experienced different levels of everything here and you cannot compare one to the other.
I contend that for the people getting hired here now, it will be a very similar, stagnant, and even un-predictable future, and it is my opinion that if they have other options, they should exercise them.
Carry on.......

Perhaps.
06/07 hires dealt with a 5 year change to mandatory retirement age, then rapid parking of three-crew classics, then a global recession.
A menage a trois of pain.
Not to say everything is sunshine and rainbows - following Expectation Zero is a must - but I don't think that a similar confluence of events will happen again in the near or medium term. But hey, I've been wrong before...

We can agree to disagree can't we?

No one is denying that you guys got f'ed, but it doesn't make you special. Or exotic. Not in this biz. I'll bite and let you shut me up here but the difference between you and me is that I expect that kind of treatment from brown. What made you think you were different?
