Default UPS

Been in the pool since October 2015. No call yet. Not sure I'm waiting around. Not even a smudge of an idea what the hell they are doing. Sucks not in line with FIFO of pool like many other airlines.

I will say this like it will ever happen (not), the HR department here needs to learn a lesson (I know, they never will) anyway, they need to learn that there is a true shortage of qualified pilots out there and that UPS is really not the place it used to be. If you have ANY, and I mean ANY other prospects please go. You will be happy you did someday, we are headed to being the Pan Am of the industry, and a strike is likely.

Keep all of your apps up to date, and IF brown calls and you feel it better to be here than where you are, come on over for a dose or the reality here. When one of your other apps pans out, RUN, don't walk out the door, sim, aircraft, and walk away. You will be so happy you did.

The B&G is all a Twitter about the prospects of Purple snapping up some of us, and I hope it comes to fruition. After 10 years I would go in a second, given the opportunity. When you see the lack of growth, the lack of concern for your customers, the continued lack of care of the aircraft you are flying, it wears you down.

There is NOTHING positive here other than the $$. There is possible strike, no growth (yes I said it again), a ready to spring SCAB force just waiting to save the day for the bean counters, deferred items like I have never seen before, and a complete lack of care wether the package makes it or not.

This style of management will be the death of this place, and our new CEO shows no signs of changing the climate here. There was a time I would have given all and then some for this place, no more. It's easy for some to say go home and forget it, but when you have been displaced to every aircraft and base in the system and back again just because they feel they can't live with one extra body in a domicile, you wonder who and what is running this place.

FedEx runs with open seats and positions all the time, we simply uproot lives, upset wives and families all because there was a loss of 10 block hours over a 6 month period. Seriously, you can't make this S&ˆ% up, but that's life here.

Is the paycheck awesome, yes. Are the benefits awesome? You bet. You (at least I do) get to a point in life though where money means less and QOL means more. I make 3 times what I made at the commuters, and my morale in this industry is as low as it has ever been. The sick part is that is EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT! They don't want a workforce that "enjoys coming to work", they want a disgruntled, beating down, work force. Why? I'll tell you.

They want you beaten down, disgruntled, and tired because they can get you cheaper, and you will eventually just feel like a beaten dog that will keep his head down accept life as it is, and start throwing stones at others that have what you don't. I consistently fly with people that have been "beaten" for so long they just don't care any more. They just want to "get there" to simply get away from this hell hole and go home. They overlook the contract, go direct, lean forward, and get the job done because it sucks so bad they want to get home to something that is positive.

Anyway, I've ranted more than usual. You boys over at purple tell your folks to start plucking, not all of us are like the furloughed guy you had to can. We just want to do our job, get home, and not be kicked in the head every single day in the process. Is fedex a utopia? Probably not, but if you haven't lived this, you can't really explain the psychological games these people play on a daily basis.

Ok, I'm done. Rant over. To the OP, keep your options open and if you have another line on a legacy, take it.

Carry on......

When an Airline HR department comes out with the Number of 63 to be hired, this should be a tell tell sign for all.

63? Really.

This shows everyone how screwed up this company is right there. Not 60. Not 65. But 63!

What a bunch of clowns. The most micro managed idiots to ever work for. The management here has no clue.

They just had a displacement close this Spring. Man I wish I was younger and could do a do over.

Are you sure that you weren't flushed first of the year? That happens a LOT. You should call and find out

To each his own. I'd say that you were nuts but I don't know what you are doing now. As long as you are happy and well compensated go for it. You don't need me to tell you that. What I want to say though is that you should do everyone else coming up a favor and tell UPS why if they call. Starting pay, propensity to cancel classes, furlough, displacements, and whatever other joys you can think of for newbee UPSers Good luck to you!

Seems this has been UPS's motif for quite some time. I remember back in 2000 when some would get hired and swim for months and others would practically go from interview into a class, both from the same squadron with similar backgrounds. Far from FIFO. It was very strange even back then, as if you were hired with a mysterious pecking order that none of the poolies were privy to.

Hey Section Eight, can you say more about the rumors on the Bar and Grill about Purple picking up Brown guys? One of my best buds is a UPS guy and I haven't heard this, but he is on a long trip.

I go back to work in a few days and starting a good crew bus rumor would be great!

MD guys (we are WAY short in the right seat)? 75/76 guys? Our training pipeline is a disaster due to some stupid new sims being brought in that are still not fully signed off.

Enquiring minds want to know!

Not true.....made up rumor at this point. I suppose if any UPS guy were to apply at FedEx tho he/she would be most qualified.

Total rumor and wishful thinking on the B&G crowd. They are theorizing that is would like hurt brown to have purple take some of their pilots.

Brown could care less, they would see it as a way to get rid of costly employees and replace them with either new hires at 30k or managers who will do everything they ask.

We haven't had a single brown pilot successfully leave for purple since the furloughed guy you had to can, he kinda left an "impression" I'm afraid.

But we can dream can't we?

Carry on.......
