Its twice a year AQP , the -400 was AQP twice a year when I was on that.

For some its another chance to conflict bid. Or for others, another time to be forced to work on a day off.

Still is. 6-month CQ is 1 day, 12-month CQ - 3 days.

Next year they'll add 3 days to your CQ for the dash-8 differences training.

All UPS training is now AQP as of Dec 2016 when the 747 Initial Qual program was approved.

Continuing Qual for the 75/76 and A300 fleets is every 12 months. The MD11 and 747 have CQ12 (3 days) which includes the Maneuvers Validation and LOE followed by CQ6 six months later. CQ6 is training only, no validation or evaluation and is currently one day for the 747 fleet.

747-8 differences will initially be 3 days, and will likely force us to add another day to CQ6 to cover 747-8 differences (ECL, IAN etc) for continuing qual.

Initial Qual footprints are: MD11 31 days; A300 29 days; 75/76 29 days; 747 31 days. These are total training days, they don't include the 2 days off every five days, effectively making the total simulator training footprint six weeks long. Of course if you start 747 initial after March 1st, then the 747-8 3 day differences course will be added to the footprint.

Operational Experience is 25 hours for all fleets generally. 747 fleet may have to consider doing bounces again to get enough landings if training volume gets to great.

Right now the drop for the Jan 03 class is 4 747, 8 A300, 4 SDF MD11 and 4 ANC MD11. Subject to change of course.

Now that they can bid, are new hires seat locked? I'd hate to get forced to ANC and then have a domestic base open up in the next class (or maybe vice versa)

Couger,
For those of us in the Jan3 class...just curious how a proposed drop for the class is already posted prior to closeout of the current bid? Interesting they don't have any 757's in that shakedown.

Thanks for sharing.

I believe they are seat locked but not domicile locked.

Some random 747-8 info from a reliable source:

747-8 delivery schedule:
2017: 3
2018: 5
2019: 4
2020: 2

All options (14) will likely be taken on the 747-8. 777F orders also soon, it will slowly phase out the MD-11 internationally. Boeing "paper tiger" -8 sim to be shipped to ANC next year. All crews to remain in ANC. The -8 will also fly trans-Atlantic, a first for the 747 fleet.

I'll find out from HR in early January whether they've dropped the 1,000 PIC turbine requirement as is rumored...

This will be announced today. 1000 PIC will be preferred but not required.
