We use to have a very senior guy commuting from Fairbanks, but he recently left the company. He worked doubles and I believe was kind of a special case. AK pretty much makes you useless for anything on the east coast if they needed you on day 1.

Quick question, where can I find the gateway cities currently offered? Also how are sick calls handled? What is the vacation system currently in place? Also are you required to always travel back to your base of record after every trip? Lets say that you have PHL as a base, but after a rotation you want to head to ATL, can you give the company a heads up and be airlined to ATL instead of PHL? Does it work on the front side of the trip as well? Also what does the current hiring forecast look like? I'm a regional captain with about 2k PIC in at CRJ, how long would it take to upgrade? How is the health insurance/401k?
Thanks
Thanks

Okay, some of these questions are going to be silly and stupid and others are going to be more serious. First, how many pilots is XO Jet hiring per month? How difficult is it to get hired with no inside connection? What are competitive numbers to get hired? Is the Jet PIC time crucial? What is the schedule like for a new hire and what plane does the new hire get? How many hours does the average pilot fly per month? Where are the bases for pilots? Okay, now for the stupid questions. How are the hotels pilots stay at? Do pilots get rewards points? Also, do the pilots do the flight planning or is there a dispatcher?
Thanks in advance to the people who help me answer these questions.

Very hard without a connection..but go to a job fair..that can be your connection. I do know that a few have been hired without a connection.
Competitive numbers? All over the place. I'm currently paired with a fantastic guy who retired from SWA after 32 years. Other times i'm paired with someone with zero jet time.
Jet PIC not crucial.
We have two scheds for everyone. 8/6, 15/13. Never forced on the 15/13 unless you live in a airline challenged city. Even then they may make a deal with you.
I flew 68 hours in the last 28 days. Kind of on the high side though.
Base system is too complex to answer...maybe someone else?
We stay at primarily Marriott and Hilton properties..this includes HGI's and Courtyards' for example.
We keep all of the points.
We don't file the FP's. We use GDC (Global Data Center). In my opinion they do a fantastic job.

2) Sick calls are like any other place. You call in sick your taken off. You call back in well might be put back into rotation. Will airline you home if you need to go.
3) Vacation kind o lame. 1 week till year five. However that's a full rotation so 20 days off. 2 weeks at year 5. 3 at 8 yr. and 4 at year 10.
4) yes you can transition on and off in other cities. Front and back.
5) hiring forecast dependent on how many leave for the Airlines.
6) Insurance pretty good and cheap. 401k is alright. .50 cent on the dollar up to a percentage.
7) I was hired in Nov. on the challenger. Told 18 months upgrade. 16 months on X. No rhyme or reason which frame you go to.
Tired of the airlines? Why not hold out for a Major if already got the requirements?
If you don't know someone here, the only other way to seem to get an interview is via job fair.

Also a couple questions.
Pilots issued iPhone. I'm an android guy. Am I allowed to substitute or sell it and get what I want?
I've heard insurance is good and cheap. Is that single only or what about plans for the wife?
Training contract?
I'm 6'6 and 225. Which a/c would be more comfortable for me? Do I get a choice?
What's the timeframe from application to hired? Is training immediate or is it backed up?
Thanks folks!
