Default Republic Questions

1) Is it possible to bid between certificates on the same AC? I know there is an equipment lock. I understand the AA flying will be out of ORD. 2)What is the best way to go about getting this? 3)Will FO spots be filled only by newhires like DEN? I have read the other threads. I have read the other threads about QOL. I am educated to the ramifications of this decision.

Thanks

1) There is no bidding between certificates or airframes as an FO. Wherever you start is where you will be until you upgrade (unless displaced).

2)When you interview, you are usually given a choice of certificates and airframes based on what the company needs at the time. When I was hired, they have me a choice of all three certs but the Q's weren't there yet. The first five 170's will come online in June with 2-3 month starting in July so they will probably need new hires on them. However, they are desperate for guys on the Q and 145 as well.

3)Because this is a not a new aircraft type, all FO's on the 170 on the Republic cert will be able to bid these new aircraft. The upgrades will probably be a lot of Chq Captains looking to make more money.

Pretty sure Al is from pncl and needs a job like a lot of us. But hey, it's just because they are "shinier" than our jets which are going to the boneyard.

Nice try

If it keeps him out of the unemployment line and he is able to feed his family, then yeah I guess you could say they are irresistible in certain circumstances.

No, no, no. The wholesale self-immolation of the lesser castes is a necessary step in the ressurection of this once proud profession.

Al... As a 6 year FO at 9E I sucked it up and took and interview at Republic because Im a total idiot (no other reason why). The place is a total joke, just as bad if not worse then 9E. After getting to the HQ I wanted to leave.
I was BSing with a pilot who was there for some reason and he asked me if I was excited to get my first airline job... I was like "ahhhh this would be more then my third job and Ive been at 9E for 6 years"... He said this is about as entry level as you get.. The door is right there I suggest you use it. I actually did.. NR'd home with my tail between my legs.

I mean nothing bad to any Republic/Shuttle etc people as every CREW MEMBER was very nice...

I must have missed the part where being a regional pilot was a proud profession. Pretty sure for the most part it always has, and always will be a stepping stone. Right or wrong, good or bad, it is what it is.

If anyone on here thinks it's stupid for someone to go to republic versus a "industry leading" regional, that's just pure stupidity. Being on the front end of a hiring wave of 53 airplanes versus going to the bottom of an "industry leading" seniority list is everything. I'd go to republic in a heart beat over any other regional right now if I were applying.
