Well with your theory the majors will hire a lot. So with that, there will be movement at SKW as well right? Maybe it won't be as stagnant as you think. Also, I had the choice of RAH. I passed it up before being hired by both SKW and Compass. The reason was simple. I'd rather be at a place I could have a decent quality of life if stuck for a few years. I don't think we'll see as much hiring as we all think. I believe we'll see more outsourced flying to regionals who dont compensate very well with bigger RJs, voila in steps GoJets/RAH and Deltas new cheap labor Pinnacle. I hope I'm wrong for all our sake.

PS. FOs have been hired at blue, virgin, hawaiian and Spirit without the 1000hrs.

Your telling me that pilots with thousands of hours of turbine PIC don't have an advantage over an RJ FO with no turbine PIC...

It's not my coveted PIC You should see some of the statistics of the pilot getting invited to interviews and actually getting hired. It will be A LONG time after any amount of good hiring starts before 0 turbine PIC becomes competitive.

And why would you be worried about getting stuck for a couple of years if RJ FOs are getting hired everywhere?

Never said anything about the amount of hiring that will take place. Never said people without TPIC don't get hired. Always have and always will. My point is that's not the case for the majority of people, especially once hiring actually does pick up, as there are TONS of stagnant RJ captains with good resumes out there.

Don't know where you work, but I'm guessing you have been there for more than the past week. My point was If I were looking to apply somewhere right now it would only be Republic with the growth they are about to have. Everyone said don't go to Colgan in 2007. Had I listened to them I wouldnt have 3 type ratings and plenty of TPIC. I'm a fan of goin to a crappy place and getting upgrades, but that's just me.

I understand your point. I am a former 9L myself. You and I have just chosen different paths post 9L. However I'll leave you with this. RP has been unable to get a new contract, why? Because pilots keep accepting jobs therefore until pilots say no more and leave RP with airplanes they can't staff there's no reason for mgmt to Increase pay. SKW didn't get the flying because we wouldn't bid into a money loosing contract. RP pay is less therefore they underbid. That's cool it's business but I'd rather keep pay and QOL as opposed to lowering it for more flying.

We won't know if our decisions were good ones for another 3-5yrs. I hope our decisions workout for us both, I truly do.

It might not be in the application requirements, but I guarantee if you don't have it you won't get a call for an interview.

Most applicants for major airlines have WAY more than 1000 TPIC. If you don't, forget about it.

Go where you can get an early upgrade and fly your donkey off.

Thats just not true anymore. I know a few guys that got on at Spirit, Jet Blue, and Virgin with "ZERO" PIC in anything turbine. They were all hired in the past 18 months.

I should also add they didn't have anything special to get them the job other than a good attitude.

We're talking major airlines here, not VX, B6 or Spirit. You aren't getting in the door at DAL, AS, UAL, AA or even LCC without it. And forget FedEx or UPS.

Many classmates in my 08 NWA class had less then 1000 TPIC. I myself had less then 600 TPIC.

I think we'll see a lot of this going forward... 121 PIC material, recent training experience, not leaving for UPS.

While I do agree with that for now but if I were a betting man I would put $100 on that requirement will be gone at the Majors by 2020. DAL, FedEx, and UPS will be the last to drop the PIC requirements.
