Republic Questions

1) Is it possible to bid between certificates on the same AC? I know there is an equipment lock. I understand the AA flying will be out of ORD. 2)What is the best way to go about getting this? 3)Will FO spots be filled only by newhires like DEN? I have read the other threads. I have read the other threads about QOL. I am educated to the ramifications of this decision.
Thanks
Thanks
I left RAH 5 years ago, but they are still working under the same contract.
You can only bid to change certificates or equipment if it is an increase in pay.
Since all A/C pay the same as an FO, that effectively locks FOs into whatever equipment you are hired into.
You CAN bid across certificates or into another A/C for upgrade (FO to CA is increase in pay).
I left in Dec of '07. At that time, CAs could bid from 145 to 170 across certificates, but they could not bid from 170 RAH to 170 (Shuttle).

While I do agree with that for now but if I were a betting man I would put $100 on that requirement will be gone at the Majors by 2020. DAL, FedEx, and UPS will be the last to drop the PIC requirements.

1000 TPIC is nice to have, and probably will be needed to be competitive, but isn't needed to be considered. If you are a white guy, joe shmoe, with nothing really crazy outstanding on his app...its going to be tough to be looked at seriously considering there are 100's of guys that are identical. If you have been an intern, or your black, or you have a front butt, then you probably have a secured interview, and thus a job (unless you botch the interview).

I understand your point. I am a former 9L myself. You and I have just chosen different paths post 9L. However I'll leave you with this. RP has been unable to get a new contract, why? Because pilots keep accepting jobs therefore until pilots say no more and leave RP with airplanes they can't staff there's no reason for mgmt to Increase pay. SKW didn't get the flying because we wouldn't bid into a money loosing contract. RP pay is less therefore they underbid. That's cool it's business but I'd rather keep pay and QOL as opposed to lowering it for more flying.
We won't know if our decisions were good ones for another 3-5yrs. I hope our decisions workout for us both, I truly do.

Are you saying that the MKE flying you guys did for Airtran as well as beating Mesa out of 200 flying in PHX is actually paying a pretty penny to SKW? I dont know anything besides what my friends at SKW told me about the flying and that is simply, fly it for peanuts, because it is better then parking the planes. T of F?
