The PSP extension said pay retro to December 1 - but it only is provisioned through the end of March. It'll be up to the new WH administration and whether Congress can actually govern if there will be further relief. Who knows at this point... roll the dice.

The vacancy shows 111 available positions and 60 backfill in the furlough column. I thought we had more than 111 on furlough and the 60 backfill confused me. Then again, I never did fully understand backfill.

They'll recall everyone, but only 60 people can choose to remain furloughed. In other words, they'll force 71 people to come back if they're aren't any volunteers. I doubt that'll happen tho

So does it look like those furloughed will be receiving the half min Guarantee while this gov money is around? For planning purposes it would be nice to know an expected income

I’m a simpleton so I’m still trying to wrap my head around why we’d be recalled March 2nd (yes I know we’ll get paid from December onwards) and then furlough again at the end of March, makes zero sense to me and I don’t know what we’d accomplish out of it.

It has more to do with the company’s financial situation more than the furloughed pilots’ financial situation. It’s a loan or grant or whatever they are calling it from the government that pays all pilots, furloughed or not. Someone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. If the company doesn’t take the money then the company has to pay the pilots that are currently not furloughed. If they do take the money then the government pays the pilots that are not furloughed and the pilots that are. It saves the company money because they aren’t technically paying any of us. The government is.

The government will give money to the airline for all (of most anyway) of their payroll under the condition that they recall everyone on furlough who wants to return and backpay them from December. Because it is so late in the month, we will be active starting in March.

However, the deal only requires the company keeps us until April, then we can be furloughed again. Because business travel is still so so low, they don't need to keep us employed at all really, so come April it's back on the street for most of us.

I hope the next administration keeps this gravy train going

With block hours so low, they're probably making money on the deal, since the grant money is based on 2019 average wages. I hope that capital is reinvested in the company.

Makes perfect sense. I really hope furloughs don’t happen again or are minimal.

I do think people will quit and walk over to PSA or Skywest (when they start rehiring) or other regional as a result of this mess. I mean at this point it could be for the better or worse either way.

I know I’m putting my applications out there the moment things open up but that’s just me.

If this furlough taught me anything it’s that there is zero loyalty from employers or corporations.

As Lord Cutler Beckett put it: “I’m afraid that loyalty is no longer the currency of the realm. I’m afraid that the currency is the currency of the realm.”
