Default LCA FOs

Why are LCA accepting flying as FOs again when they aren’t doing CA OE?

the hell?! If true and if they have a choice in the matter, this is troubling.

because there is more open time for FOs than captains right now. I betting they don’t want to upgrade anyone due to be almost equally short staffed on both sides

It is happening and the point of my post is why are they doing it when it’s prohibited per the contract? There was a grievance about this issue a while ago. Staffing issues are not a pilot’s problem. Fly the contract.

It is allowed in the contract as long as they go through the entire FO junior man list, which they do every single day. See section 25 R.

the bigger question is why the heck are the LCAs not teaching new guys IOE or upgrade training. If the company was properly recruiting qualified candidates the LCAs would be busy doing LCA things and not sitting right seat instead of new FOs.

the follow on question is why can’t we recruit new people? Oh, zero stability and no communication for a future here, and no actual retention bonuses. As usual, silence from ATW.

12 days off per month junior manned or extended down to 5-10 days off, some of the lowest starting pay, no bonus, a training department with a reputation for “consistency”… I can go on and on but I think you covered some of the one I missed and I don’t have the energy at this point.
