I did - although by no means do I mean to imply that Jepp FD is close to Foreflight, just that Jeppesen has made vast improvements to their product which I believe is because of what Foreflight has done. As far as Jepp is behind the curve compared to Foreflight, Navtech is that much further behind Jepp (my opinion only).

Before you knock on me too badly... I know what Foreflight can do. I can flight plan in the comfort of my easy chair, get an official briefing and file my flight plan*. I can then load the flight plan from FF into my onboard GPS - and display ADS-B in data on my iPad (traffic, text WX and NEXRAD overlays). I also get a "not for primary navigation" AHRS display on the iPad. Plus the ability to overlay the approach chart on the enroute chart and show ownship position. All neat stuff that we probably won't see in the 121 environment for some time.

* guaranteed not to crash, as the mainstream media seems to think that most GA accidents are because the pilot didn't file a flight plan

Navtech crashes on launch on my iPad 2. Completely unusable even after troubleshooting with chief pilot.

No bueno.

At this point...doesn't everything crash on the iPad 2? Of course they promised it wouldn't so that is AWAC's problem.

As for all those folks who are screaming about Foreflight...yeah would be great but it's AWAC paying the bills and that is a key reason Navtech looks sexy to them.

For a company that makes close to a million dollars a week (maybe its a month - either way), its embarrassing and pathetic they don't just SPEND SOME DAMN MONEY for something that isn't a joke. I updated to to the latest charts (revision) last night. I use it today and still get a message telling me that my current chart still has errors on it (who knows what they are - how would I know?). Seriously dude? I'm going to laugh my ass off when these issues aren't resolved, properly, by the time their Jepp subscription runs out by the end of the month. What are you gonna do then? We were already supposed to be "live" with this Dec 1.

It is not a coincidence that Republic told Navtech to pound sand after their trial. Leave it to us, a profitable, stable and certainly not poor company, to cheap out yet again.

Seriously. You can make money in this world and not be cheap as **** at the same time. Good lord.

Guess I'll come out and be the first to say it, Maybe they went cheap so if this place closes shop in 2 years the investors will walk away with the most amount of money possible... Just a thought but I wouldn't but my eggs in that basket.

But Paul said my upgrade should be in 2 and a half years in new hire class. Maybe he is saying that I'll never upgrade. PSA app time??

Eddie told us 2.5 year upgrade in 2007, I upgraded 6.5 years later.

Have a backup plan ready

I remember Eddie saying the same exact thing after the Delta deal fell through. Since that e-mail, one year ago, they have ran maybe 3 upgrade classes? Lol. It's right on pace!
